    #9055611 - 10/09/08 07:55 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Finally got off my lazy ass and did some of it...

First I obviously put together the rack, then I took the blue shower curtain, and cut it to size (Front, and sides[all one piece]);

To temporarily keep it in place I used some zip-ties. Here are the supplies I used at this point;

Plus a sharpy

then I made measurements for the top, and back (One piece);

Cut it to size, and put it into position with some more zip-ties;

I then started off the taping with the strapping tape;

Its like that strong tape they use allot of the time for mailed packages...

Then with small pieces of tape I brought the edges together and in place starting with the curtain near the ground then 1/2 way, then just everywhere in no pattern;

Then I ran a long piece of strapping tape over the whole seam closing every gap now that it was all in place;

Cleaned it all up with duck-tape after that;

Giving it a more professional look I guess.

Then I measured off the lines where the zippers were going to run, and putting a square of duck-tape where the cut would end, to reinforce the end of the cut so it wouldn't keep tearing (Just in-case);

Take the ole' Xacto knife, and make the incision...;

In the second pic above, you can see the stress ripples stemming from the duck-tape. I BET it would have tore if it wouldn't have been for the tape reinforcing it...

Then I take the zipper, and unzip it. then apply a strip of duck-tape to it like this...;

You like that cat hair all stuck in the tape... hate those fuckers !!! anyhow...

Apply them into position;

zip'er up, and make sure she works...

I might add that I used 4 zippers in all, Cause walmart didn't carry one long enough. have 2 on each side, where one ends the next begins.

Then the other zipper side the same way...;

Now duck-tape is some miraculously strong shit... but I want something a lil stronger for, "My" project. The duck-tape alone would prolly keep the zippers in place fine... but I decided to also apply some 60 second epoxy in there too... Did this after I put the zipper in place with the tape (Obviously)...

And wallah...

After using the, "60 second epoxy" I wish I would have got the like... 5 Minuit stuff. it might have said 60 seconds, but that shit was like supper glue! You don't even have time to do a lil of the zipper, press it and make sure its seals evenly, then do a lil more, so-on-and-so-on cause the lil bit at the end of the syringe drys rock hard on ya. Luckily they put two syringe tips in the package (now I know why) I was slopping that shit around in a hurry trying not to stall, and let it dry at all. In doing this I got some in the zipper teeth at some points (Had to go in with the ole' X-acto knife and chisel it out after) Its like a mixture that when mixed creates a strong chemical reaction, and it gets hot as hell. Almost felt like it was gunna melt the curtain lol...

To Be Continued (Humidifier):regularshroom::1up::poison:

Wow, what a good idea... I'd have never thought to use shower curtains. Just a comment, when you say "And wallah..." you probably mean to say "En voilà..." It's french, and it means "here it is."

I, too, felt ready to start life all over again. It was as if that great rush of anger had washed me clean, emptied me of hope, and, gazing up at the dark sky spangled with its signs and stars, for the first time, the first, I laid my heart open to the benign indifference of the universe. To feel it so like myself, indeed, so brotherly, made me realize that I’d been happy, and that I was happy still. ~Albert Camus, The Stranger

As for something inventive... It prolly wont be, But as long as it works and serves its purpose, I'll be happy :smile:. Then again, I usually get an idea to do something, then while fabricating it I implement new shit on the spot. So I never know what exactly I'll do lol.:shrug: This Martha setup isn't that huge or anything, so one humidifier will do the job.

I did however think about putting perlight down in that serilight container that I'm gunna have the Martha sitting in to catch what moisture might drip down. I figured the slow drips of moisture that falls down into the bin with the perlight would always keep the perlight hydrated. Creating a never ending cycle of the water dripping down on the perlight, then evaporating back off into the air as humidification. All the while omitting a choir of me having to soak this water up out of the serilight reservoir. This along side of a cold mist humidifier would be perfection I think...

in the area circles in red I plan on installing a small florescent light fixture under there. I seen a small one (big as I need) at home depot for like 12 bucks.

I made the top and backing on the Martha clear shower curtain to let light in. The front is blue CAUSE THE MUSHROOMS NEED THERE PRIVACY !!!:rofl: jk. If some one happened to look in there while I wasn't at home, (Apt manager/maintenance) I don't want them to automatically go SHROOOOOOOMS !
