Blue Cakes
    #904775 - 09/24/02 02:12 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Well, I just noticed that some of my cakes appear to have a bluish tint to them toward the bottom...I have read that green indicates contamination, but this isn't really green. What does blue mean? The mushrooms are growing really well on these cakes and theres a bunch of huge ones. Is something really wrong?

Perhaps you should read up a lil' more

Most likley its just bruising, nothing to worry about!

If you've handled them a lot, and there are dents in the mycellium from your finger, it's probably from bruising. If the entire cake is turning a blue color and you haven't handled them very much, it's probably from dehydration.

If they are only blue in a few areas...its probably just Bruising.

If they are blue all over or in several places they might need to be dunked....to hydrate the cakes with needed water.

Roadkill strikes again, I did not realize cakes went blue from dehydration...
