Trillions of dollars of wealth lost

Note: This is NOT meant to be an economic (well - slightly) or political discussion, so try to stay focused.
It has been claimed that in the last few weeks, trillions of dollars of wealth has disappeared. This is a falsehood as nothing has disappeared except for hyperinflated stock & real estate values.
Compare this to Galveston wherein real value was lost due to hurricane damage.
The present situation is somewhat akin to a collector paying 3.2 million dollars for a Van Gogh painting hoping it will appreciate and it doesn't.
The painting still exists regardless of how much or how little it is valued. Nothing is lost except for an idea of worth.

Well yea... its all speculative. People are losing faith, banks are losing faith, and the entire system is crashing down. Only a small fraction of the money actually exists.
Our resources aren't vanishing. Everyone needs to watch Zeitgeist II (especially if you hated the first one).
We need to move towards a resource based economy. We can accomplish so much more. We can change the world!
Fuck the monetary system. All it does is hold technology back. Profit orientated systems are only tanks fit to breed corruption.

Fuck em all. I hope the whole thing burns. Things are bound to get more interesting then.

Time to invest in firearm and bulletproof vest companies as soon we shall all be forced into roaming armed bands just to survive.
Tribalism will return as the structure crumbles.
You are looking forward to this just cuz you are a big, mean mofo.

Paying $500,000 for a beachfront one bedroom condo only makes sense when one expects to resell it for a higher price. When you run out of buyers willing to take the same risk, then the price drops.
There is the same silly argument over drugs prices.
People will say that $800 an ounce for herb is ridiculous and a rip-off and then will go pay an almost as ridiculous $400 an ounce without question.

WTF? You want to see everyone suffer just because it would be interesting?
There are many interesting positive things that could happen, why not hope for one of them?
Why is it hip to be cynical and trite to be optimistic? Is it because fear has become a commodity and hope just a sales pitch?

This post is partly true. Orgy is referring to the type of trading related to credit swaps and hedging, where bets are being made on future credit worthiness of something. Those future values do not yet, and may never- true.
The money people placed on those trades/bets is real and many lost that real cash lately. It takes a minimum of $250,000 to even get into that legalized and unregulated gambling casino.
The huge global traders involved in the unregulated, opaque hedge fund universe, Capitalists worth billions, were trading a volume last year of 58 trillion dollars. I shit you not, it came out yesterday on the C-Span investigations into this mess. Less then 30% of what was being traded was backed by actual Capitol even.
In essence, these guys were betting on 40 trillion dollars worth of air, with real money.
Real money was lost by many of them. Here is one example of many and many more to come-
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/9042971/an/0/page/0.
It's not just their loss though. These are the global capitalist that fund the banks. When they go broke, the banks go bankrupt. When the banks go bankrupt, Americans stand in soup lines.
I don't think every American even realizes that their Federal reserve notes are debt notes backed by money owed to the Federal Reserve. If there ever were a way to pay off the national debt, they would become worthless. The funny money Fiat system is frightening.
I don't think Americans even realize that it is imposable to pay off the national debt.
Dollars were created out of thin air and then were loaned out with interest due on them.
There is only money out there to cover the principle while interest keeps accruing.
Add insult to injury related to how people get screwed by false values and monopoly money, The Privately owned Federal Reserve banks, only pay 3 cents for the paper dollar bill they loan out to our government with interest added.
These private institutions pay 3 cents for what they loan out to our Treasury, the ones who printed the bills at a cost to us for for 3 cents in the first place, that now cost us tax payers 100 cents plus prime rate interest.
How fucking stupid are we to be going along with this scam, and not demanding the gold standard and shutting down of the Federal Reserve Banking system.
We do live in a world of deception, fraud, smoke, mirrors and illusions.

Wealth is only the idea of it. Private property itself is simply an idea. The universe does not care who touches what and for what cause- ideological property is the only means by which we assign wealth.
Conversely, yes, it is just idiots who thought they were worth much more than they were coming back to reconcilable "reality". But reality is the same illusion before and after the crash, as is wealth, and some of it is now gone.
