He said the print on #1 was rusty red, cyans have a purple/brown print.
Also the stipe looks wrong for a cyan.

Whether it is a cyan or not, picture 1 does have a psilocybe look to me. I am not saying go and eat it, I just think it needs some more review. As far as the spore print goes, maybe he did not examine it close enough. He should post a pic of it.

Species one looks more like a deadly Galerina than anything active. Galerinas often display blackish bruising, and have rusty prints. Not to be messed with.

This is why there are trusted identifiers. The rusty brown spore print is a HUGE red flag.

OP, don't stop reading the posts after you read The_Red_Crayon's first response. You really are seeing what you want to see, rather than what really is there. Don't eat anything you aren't 100% sure on and even then it's a good idea to submit it to the forum for confirmation. I'm beginning to think that everyone sees what they want to see when they start hunting for actives. I'm right there with ya in regards to that problem though, so don't get discouraged.

I was wrong, sorry. Trusted ID'ers make mistakes too, I recall Alan recently telling someone his jack-o-lanterns were armallarea tabascens. All of us are human and prone to error, i saw blueing that looked active, i was wrong. Thats why im glad Alan and Others contradicted me, believe me thats a good thing.

'Course not. Alan is hands down the best id'er here, he does so many accurate id's in one day he's bound to make a mistake, we are all human. Alan deserves a lot of respect here for sure.

It is a good thing, RC. I am probably incorrect more often than any trusted IDer. Alan's called me on it and so have others plenty of times. There is only one way to never misidentify a mushroom. Don't try. However, I am never mistaken when I tell someone to eat something. I have to be 1000% sure before I'll go there. I recommend that philosophy to anyone. It saves lives, which, for me, is the main purpose for identifying. The second main reason is the actives.

I disagree. There is one that is better. I'll let others figure who it is. Here's a clue--he never misses, ever. Alan is #2.
