was out on the coast in that magical place where the flying saucers visit yesterday, and damnit if the grass wasn't half dead and the ground crispy.it looks like we'll have to wait a while for the fabulously potent coastal fellers.anybody have any luck with azures, cyans or any others in oregon yet?

Nothing here on the south coast. Dry as a bone with no relief in the near future. I am watering my patches daily and crossing my fingers.

Yup, dry year -- so far -- on the Oregon coast. But, it will happen. Oregon Ducks didn't get that name because it never rains in Oregon. True Oregonians have web feet, or develope them after being here awhile.

I found a few cyans after that rain last friday was it? But only about 2, I was searching up in the mountains up Trask River Road in Tillamook, it calls for rain this week, so I'll be heading up there again this weekend. I hope.

Hey!! I live a bit further north on the coast and this area has been getting tons of rain!!! I'm a newbie at picking though so does anyone have any advice on places to look?

No pastures or feilds around here, which is a bummer. So yeah... Where should I be looking? Any tips? Thanks!

i think dude said he was from bc, then he posts this.
what gives? we dont want to know where you're from!
if it is raining lots, and you are in b.c. , your proximity with the coast would be marginally helpful.
noone is gonna give you an exact location.
you might find semilanceata in open grassy fields in coastal areas.
you might finds cyanescens, cyanofibrillosa, baeocystis, or stuntzii in mulched areas almost anywhere.
as far as fields go, rain and dung usually produce something good, if only weakly so. identification of some of the panaeolus species and more rare psilocybes takes time and experience. books with pictures are good, but knowing the characteristics of active psilocybes is better.
and if it's not raining yet, which is my problem around the oregon coast, your chances are slim.
no cubensis are known to occur anywhere in the pacific northwest, according to literature and scientists.....but the street folks seem relatively sure that there are cubies out here on cow shit. my guess is that the rare dung inhabiting psilocybe with the ring that pretends to be cubensis is some abberrant form of pan subbs, or some other wild inexplicable impossible shit. it may be that cattle get moved around alot, and that some cows from texas are brought up to the pacnw to grow fat and get eaten, meanwhile disseminating the random cubensis spores that might get a chance to colonize and fruit in one hot season, only to be killed by frost in the winter.
that's another thing, i suspect that in b.c. you guys have gotten chilly enough to bring out the shrooms. only you and the weather service know for sure.
hey, good luck anyway, guy. i hope you find something. peace
