I stopped going to the gym 3 years ago

And since then I have done only 600 pushups per week and about 80 pullups per week (three sets of pushups to get to 200 3 times a week and 3 sets of 13 pushups twice per week) and about 15 minutes of situps per week.
Just for kicks, I try the benchpress the other day and am able to max out at more weight than when I spent 1 hour per week bench pressing when I was lifting weights hardcore 3 years ago. WTF?? Does this mean I'm getting my man-strength?
This workout plan is pretty tits! It's about 5% of the time and energy of a gym routine and I don't have to leave home!

That's what I'm thinking. I'm 23. I know when I first started on the bench it was at 105 lbs or so when I was 16
It'd be tight to put up 250.

I believe that bulk repetitions were called "polishing the groove" by Pavel Tsatsouline. The method was supposedly used by Russian olympians.
I progressed to isometrics and body weight calisthenics after maxing out the gym equipment and have grown stronger and larger.
In highschool gym, I heard mention of Mr. Universes who used nothing but these "unequipped" methods, although I cannot factually verify this for you.

*greasing the groove
The principle is to practice only two or three movements while working towards masterful form with each rep. He suggests working out often, more than once a day, but only doing less than 50% of the reps you could do if you went all out. The idea is to do as much as possible while you are as fresh as possible, so that when you do test to your limits, you will find you have become much stronger.

I lift how you used to...
How much did you max out on exactly?
I am actually quite interested in this. You see, I am how you used to be, and I do workout hardcore and heavy. So, I am putting up some high numbers...
It takes a little bit of time for your body to get into it but once you hit your 20s, things begin to take off!
