Elder Scrolls V: Ideas

I can't wait, i've had oblivion for about a month now and am already sick of it, but of course i have played it to death. Still way preferred morrowind and even daggerfall, but Oblivion was still a great gaming experience.

I reckon they need to bring back long blade/short blade distinction, spear, medium armor, unarmored skills.
The new locking picking method is good, but needs something similar/extra for disarming. i.e a probe like in morrowind.

I would like to see an Akaviri invasion of Tamriel in this fourth era. With no Heir to the empire and the Nerevarine supposedly already in Akavir and the disappearance of the Champion of Cyrodil (maybe to the Atmora landmass to find a distant dragonblood descendant) The Blades struggle to find a new champion and leader to defend Tamriel against this old foe.

Well there are a few reasons i liked morrowind more.

1-Morrowind was stange, and fantastic. With giant volcanoes, desert, giant shrooms, strange politics etc. Whereas oblivion was just like high fantasy. I really get tired of high fantasy i mean DAMN i have seen it, read about it, watched it, played in it SO MANY TIMES.

2-Variety in morrowind exceeded that in oblivion. For instance there were more unique items, that actually had a unique look, and unique specialties. That way when you found something you were like WOW, this is EPIC.

3-Morrowind is slower paced, making it feel bigger, also the lack of teleportation made it feel MUCH MUCH bigger.

4- Caves in morrowind were more unique, it seemed like they really put alot more work into the caves and stuff on that game.

5- Oblivion is leveled, so you will never find high level items if you are on a low level. Also you can go anywhere without worrying, because everything will be around your level. This is the main reason Morrowind was better. In morrowind you had to slowly expand to more difficult area's. In oblivion you can just run into any part of the game and kill everything.

That being said i still poured hours into oblivion, it was an alright game, but they can do much better. I'd love to see the next one in Khajit homeland, or the wood elves. OMG, that would be raw. Maybe both, in the woods and desert. I"m not sure but i think they are close to eachother in geography. I'd have to get my little oblivion handbook thing and look.

Hell yeah, a mixture of both good qualities from Morrowind and Oblivion would be awesome in a new story line. I love Morrowind as well. Oblivion is cool, not too far into it due to lack of time and other games. Would love to play Daggerfall though.

Yeah oblivion pretty much looked the same everywhere you went, the exception being the mountains (snow) and the planes of oblivion. Morrowind had awesome variety.
Not only landscape but in weapons and skills too. I like in morrowind the only forms of fast travel was finding a boat, or a silt strider and often having to port jump to get from one place to another. That and mark/recall only being able to be used to mark one spot (though i imagine most people who have replayed it like 10 times or more would have the multi-marking teleport mod)

Yeah Valenwood (woodelves homeland) and Elsweyr (Khajiit homeland) are neighbours.
I feel that Elsweyr, Valenwood, Morrowind, and quite heavily the Black Marsh are areas that could revolt against the empire now there is no emperor. Particularly the Argonians for how they are treated rascistly and the Televanni Because they're powerful in east morrowind and north eastern vvardenfell.
That and the black marsh would seem a likely place to begin an akaviri invasion as akavir lies to the east. Lore tells us the Akaviri Ka Po' Tun (tiger-dragon empire) intends to invade tamriel (after defeating the tscaeki lizards)
Plus the idea of battling an akaviri emperor that is a massive immortal tiger-dragon sounds awesome.

There seemed to be alot more references to the black marsh than any other Provence, which would lead me to believe that the next one could be there. Of course it could just as easily be in Valenwood or Elsweyr, or both, or even more.

Wouldn't having the entirety of tamriel to traverse be excellent?

But i did enjoy morrowind much more( i agree with 1-5 ). I played that game for two years(seriously, only game that i ever played that immersed me in such a way) on one save file, maxed all skills, maxed level, got every unique item in the game,(that i am aware of) and completed almost every quest/side quest. In high school i had no life.

Oblivion i have put about a quarter the time into it then i did morrowind. And have nowhere near the mastery that i had attained in the previous title.

Yeah morrowind was raw. No doubt. I Think that they should cover 2-3 lands at a time. Give us a little more variety in the areas that we can traverse. I hope they get rid of teleporting, that is just stupid.  And an akavari invasion would be amazing.

I really wouldn't mind black marsh, i'm sure there would be some interesting stuff there. However i think the whole game being set there would get old. But yeah shivering isles was ok

I would like more diversity in traveling. I have agreed with pretty much everything you guys have said so far, but the silt striders in morrowind, and the teleporting in oblivion both seem like cop outs to a decent traveling system. Sure, they had horses in Oblivion, but they seemed completely unnecessary in a world where you could teleport relatively close to your destination.

I loved oblivion, wasted many many hours i will never get back... but still had fun!

for ideas i'd say different forms of transportation ''other than horses'' i agree with the post above on horses were really useless in regards to travel speed.

I wish for more customize options, the character creator was great in regards to shapes of face, body ect... but you couldnt change the height and the hairstyles were too few and crappy ''these are kinda my pet peeves''

maybe the ability to make your own quests ie: i didnt like how in oblivion if you did the main quest you were portrayed as a good guy hero type...so me liking to roleplay in an rpg didnt like the fact that i was doing the main quest saving villages and the world and at the same time killing innocents and robbing people in the theives and assasins guilds..

i guess theres really no way around this but its just me, either way i loved the game and am hoping fallout 3 will remotely reflect the elder scrolls style of play, but we'll see!

It would be nice to see what the developers have to say about the ideas presented here and also the flaws.
