I went for a 4 mile run today where I found some cyans last Thursday. When I was done running I went to the spot where I found them last time. Some lady walked by and was asking what breed my dog is, leans over to pet her and I look down & see, less than 3 feet from where my dog is standing, a nice "little" patch. I would take pictures if I had a camera other than the one on my computer. I think i would look a bit funny out taking pictures with my computer. Anyhow, here is what I got, and its not even half of what was there. There were tons of pins and quite a few that had already turned black. Ready for the next rain!
These, and a few others, have some black on the caps...are they still good?
Oh, and I was wondering, what is the best method of drying. From what I've been told, I should just put them on a sheet of paper in a drawer or something. Is that good enough?

THANKS! this is my first time ever doing this, so I was stoked when I FINALLY found cyans. but quite a few cuts and stabs from blackberry bushes and my dog was kinda pissed at me because she got a thorn stuck in her paw. good thing about dogs though is they forget about as soon as the pain is gone and go right back to loving you more than anything.

Nice. Yeah, not sure what to make of the one i found, the field test went perfect, except the taste test. It was outrageously acidic! I was up at the PNW OMC show today, speaking with different mycologists, and none of them had heard of them being acidic in taste. They also said that there has been 3 different species of Sulfur shelves pop up in the last few years, when i told them what the host was, they where very opinionated toward believing that either this acidity was due to the odd host, in this case being an oak tree, or that we came across a new species which they say would not be that unusual or hard to believe. Who knows, all i know is it tasted good as a mother and i found it so damn adolescent that damn near the whole shelf that i have was good for eating! BTW, any one else go to that show today? Sure was a HUGE amount of inoculation bags walking out of there!! I know i got one! Great freekin show!!

looks like a mushroom to me
i wouldnt eat any of them if i were u
and those might be some trouble to ID considering u didnt fill out the proper information, nor did u create a separate thread. this is a thread for finds in the PNW, not ID requests.
please read the hunting forum rules for how to give us proper ID information, and start your own thread for an ID instead of polluting this one which is for finds.

Today was a very special day for me.
I took the day off work to go hunting (gotta burn up that vacation somehow ). Got up early, stoked the fire and headed out to the rain. I searched many local parks (where they are known to be found) and came up empty handed, again.
Another park was fairly close by but the rumors were that it had been picked out years ago. I figured what the heck, if they've been there before they may be there again.
Walked the park for about 2 hours more (this is about 6 hours into the hunt) and really started to feel discouraged. I've gotten used to that feeling and usually know that its time to head home.
As I am headed to the turn around point in the trail I see a pile of beauty bark in the woods. I know they dont usually grow there but figured I would take a look. Of course there was nothing there. Yea. Then as I turned around to walk back I see a brown speck in the distance under a pine tree...
Could it be? No, its probably a rock....Hrmm, let me move this grass out of the.. HOLY SHIT. It was like winning the lotto. I didn't even believe it, like my mind MUST be playing tricks on me. Moved some more grass. OMFG! Jackpot!!!
After 2 years of research, endless hiking, and staring at the ground I found my first cyan patch, or rather, they found me....
Thanks to all of the folks here at Shroomery for your insight and helping me get to this wonderful day!
Theres still a TON of pins. Will be heading back to my new super secret squirrel location in a few days.

If you are trying to use your zoom when you are in macro mode then thats the prob. just get really close zoomed all the way out in macro mode.

no thats not it, I dont use it only foot zoom. I think it may be the cyans blending in? too small maybe? its only a 5.o megapixel camera.

Here's my finds for today.
Cyans and 3 Gyms (probably sapineus)
Actually found about 3x the cyans that are in the pic.
Some Gym pics:
Luteos.
Sapineus.
The odd unknown bluing mushroom:
See the blue?
Baeos from a few days ago:
And the snakes from today. Saw 3 of them but only got a chance to photograph 2 of them. The big guy was hurt pretty bad. Looked like a hiker or biker stomped/ran over him.:(
Happy hunting and be safe!
