pressure sterilizer better than pressure cooker?
    #903899 -

If I had a pressure sterilizer that held 19 quart jars of rye grain would one hour be enough or would I have to go with the one and a half hours?

I love growin shitake mushrooms!

So you don't blunder, with that many in one run. I would NOT go 60 minutes. 120 would be better. 6T

Thank you for the input, yeah for 19 jars I guess you would have to cook it for a lot longer. I was just wondering if anyone has owned on of these and how long they thought was suffecient.

well my pet fleas own one and  with that many jars they recommend 1.5hrs @ 15PSI, but with the sterilizer you can achieve higher pressures with safety, so they would go with a higher pressure (the one in green on the gauge)
and don't forget to "bleed" the air out before hand.  Many people forget to do this and get less than optimal results.
