Blowing shit up makes everyone hate you.
That is a cop out of not wanting to do anything IMO. By the very fact that you are going against the status quo you will be hated.

lol? I hope that's a joke, we haven't been a free market economy since at least the 1930s.
EDIT: Thomas Jefferson had a few words on the 2nd amendment... "The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."
"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

That's why I made this thread. Less government power is what this is all about.
Seriously, no one is going to believe in a cause when it consists of terrorism.

If it comes to this, then yes. I'm proposing a peaceful group of armed citizens who will change the status quo. We’ll use politics as a means of change. If we happen to be attacked when the government becomes crazy with power, we will defend ourselves. It won't happen now or even in the near future. But the way things are going; It will be just a matter of time.

I like the sound of that..... Not now or even in the near future.....But it's just a matter of time.
You know what's likely in the near future IMHO, Barrack Obama is elected, he does some good things, maybe even repeals some or all of the patriot act. And does SOME genuinely good things. Then most of the public becomes placid again.
And the cycle starts anew.

The only problem is that I can't think of any militia that ended well or didn't bomb a federal building.
The Gadsden Minutemen, they had a standoff with the FBI several years back over a video tape, no shots were fired, no one was arrested over the incident
http://www.no-debts.com/anti-federalist/gadsden.html
unfortunately it doesnt mean they arent under a great deal of suspicion from the FBI, you'd have to be very careful of things you own and the locations there they're stored, for instance iron pipe and gunpowder, neither is illegal until you have them at the same location, then it's a conspiracy charge

I don't think there is anyway there could be any real change without some form of action.
Obviously the goal should still be to minimize civilian casualties, but a bunch of people standing around saying "WE NEED CHANGE! DOWN WITH THE GOVERNMENT" will sound like nothing more than whiny children.
Now...get a bunch of people armed with guns and bombs and walk into the federal reserve and THREATEN to blow shit up unless the government responds to you....that would probably have more effect.
Of course, the scale would have to be even much bigger than that.
Not saying that is really a good course of action....but it get people to know you mean business.
(I hope the CIA doesn't come on here and try to bust me)

The reason a militia used to be necessary was because the founding fathers did not want to allow standing armies. If a conflict came up, the militia would organize and come to the rescue. No need for a militia now, seeing as how we always have massive standing armies at all times, peace or war.

"The spirit of this country is totally adverse to a large military force." --Thomas Jefferson to Chandler Price, 1807. ME 11:160
It sucks but the 2nd amendment is totally outdated and obsolete. Citizens needed the right to be armed because the citizens were the militia. But citizens no longer defend our country.

a guy in a bar once tried to recruit me.
he was 60y old and told me he's recruited people from the french legion other military factions already. i asked him who will we be fighting and he said his old english teacher that lives a few klicks away from his place.
he said he fought in Afghanistan in the soviet army and killed men with his bare hands and then he started crying quietly. he also asked if i am recording him with my cell phone.
these people start militias.

I have no need to protect anyone but me and my family, if you can prove to me your worth then maybe I'll consider allowing you to join me but this talk of making the boom isnt something any of us need to discuss, not only is it illegal, it is more often than not dangerous for you and those around you, just remember, TOTSE is not a source of information

well shit, considering this and other things that Jefferson has said I'd say there's more need now than ever before for the organized Militia as we have had standing armies for more than 100 years and jefferson opposed it

your quotes say just the opposite of what you say, the supreme court disagrees with you in that it's the 'right of the people to keep and bare arms'

Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state. - Thomas Jefferson
If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. -Thomas Jefferson

I didn't say that the people shouldn't have the right to keep and bare arms. I'm just saying that originally the reason for that was so the people could organize and serve as this country's military force when needed. So the 2nd amendment (for the reasons it was intended) is obsolete. Its not like that anymore and baring arms is no longer necessary, except for personal protection and sport. Which is fine by me. I don't hunt but shooting for sport is fun. I do agree that people should have that right.
