Typar VS Tyvek
    #9029398 - 10/04/08 04:57 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

I know they are sort of similar products, but im curious if anyone has used TYPAR instead of tyvek, i cant find tyvek anywhere around me besides 20 dollar disposable painter suits, and those look like they have tiny holes all through them, and my local post office does not have tyvek envelopes, but i was given a half roll of typar house wrap so i want to give it a whirl, but im not sure if it will work.  Any thoughts appreciated.

I believe it is stronger and less-poreous(spelling)

Typar has polyester fibers bonded to one side.

So is that to say it will work as well as tyvek for filters on jars?

I have no experience with Typar, but a good test would be to make a bag out of it and if you can squeeze the air out it's good for gas exchange.

You can go on their usps.com and order any supplies for free. Usually shows in in 1-2 days ime.  But the post office should have a ton of the tyvec envelopes.
