Well After opening an email this morning form someone whose name I cannot recall but used a shroomery.com email address sent me a letter saying someone at the shroomery said to send a picture to me for identification. I opened the fucker and it was a o,big virus bug. Every hour since my bulk mail fills up overflowing my email in my inbox so letters get sent back and I am told I have exceeded my 4 megabyte allowence.
I just want to say that whoever did this shit is fucked so I will not be responding to any email from shroomery.com anymore.
Thanks to whoever thought this fucking virus and sent it to me.
As soon as I realized what itr was I deleted it buit it is now to late.
Microsoft wants bucks to tell me what to do so I basically told them what to do and where to go and do it.
To everyone else here who is cool, have a shroomy day and watch out for those fucking bugs. ANd to the asshole who sent that shit to me. Fuck you and the bitch whore who created you so you could send me that virus.
mj
Shit I was in a really good space and mood for the last month outside of a serious motorcycle muffler burn.
Well I learn something new every day.
bye for now

The current worm going around (sobig) uses the email address of somebody in the infected computers address book to forge it's sent from address. It would be like me mailing a bomb to somebody, but putting your return address on the package. Even though it says it came from somebody at shroomery.com, it most likely did not. > I just want to say that whoever did this shit is fucked so I will not be responding to any email from shroomery.com anymore. Even though the mail appears to have come from the shroomery, it probably did not. Somebody you know has the email address of somebody at the shroomery in their address book. The worm took a random address from their book and sent itself out in that random persons name to everybody in the address book. Just an unlucky roll of the dice that the worm picked an @shroomery.com and your name at the same time. > Thanks to whoever thought this fucking virus and sent it to me. Whoever sent it probably did no know they had it. Thank Micro$oft for spending all their money keeping their monopoly intact rather than writing secure software. > As soon as I realized what itr was I deleted it buit it is now to late. Probably better to be rid of it anyway...

Listen to Seuss...
In the past few weeks there have been some pretty nasty viri/worms floating around.
I've gotten hit with more viruses in the past two weeks then I have in the past 5 years.
Why? Its becasue of what Seuss said, this virus finds addresses, puts a different address in the headers and POW. Its definitely an inconvience and a pain in the ass!

SInce I got rid of yage.net as my server, all of the spam disaapeeared as did the flood of childporn which hit my site for three days, but the porn disappeared after i contacted the district aAttornbeys office here in Seattle.
I get mail from people at shroomery.com so that is what itt was when i opene dthe picture someone said to send to me. Since there was a letter atached in the mail informing me that someone at the shroomery xsaid to send the picture to be, then that is where I believe it came from.
It is flooding my junk mail box at yahoo with about 75 emails an hour and so my regular email is getting returned to the sender. I havve a sister near death and I do not think this is funny .
Anyway, anyone know how to get rid of it. Mi rosoft is asking for money to tell me how. I bought an emachine with buillt in Windows XP. So I really feel they should stop the virus form people who bought computers which install their shit.
Earlier this year I called them to ask them to stop sending updates to my computer. I do not want them on my computer. And they had the nerve to tell me it would cost me money to them in order for them to stop sending their updates to my computer. Goodthing they are int he suburbs cos I wwould probably throw the friggin thing through their window at someone for this shit,.
have a shroomy day.

Mjshroomer, Do not rely on Microsoft to help you with computer security. Their software flaws are what allows such threats to persist in the first place (and certainly do not pay them a dime). You need to invest in decent anti-virus/firewall software, and if you already have, do yourself and everyone else a favor and keep the definitions updated! This is essential given the current climate of MS-based viruses and worms and trojan horses. Since you seem to catch something quite regularly, perhaps you need to make some changes. Your security must be wide-open, friend. Earlier this year I called them to ask them to stop sending updates to my computer. I do not want them on my computer. Why would you want to stop the MS updates/patches? If you are going to run MS products, then you are going to have use the patches and crucial updates (including IE and Outlook). Otherwise, you'll keep running into this problem again and again. So keep up with the patches/crucial updates or run an alternative OS like linux or mac. It sounds like you have the Sobig virus. You can find more information about the virus and find a removal tool here and here. hope this helps - peace

> -Then it basically destroyed my harddrive so i had to buy a new computer.
As somebody that might have hung out with the virus writers back in the early days (mid 80's, don't flame me... I was young...), and as somebody that has more experience than needed with computers and hardware in general... the chance of a virus destroying a harddrive beyond use is next to zero.
It is very difficult to destroy hardware from software. I have only seen three cases of it ever, and they were all design flaws with the hardware. The two that I can talk about:
1) The IBM PC jr could be damaged by mucking with the sound chip. Two of the three channels on the sound chip could be damaged beyond repair from software.
2) Very old hard drives (those early hard drives that were the size of a small car) could be damaged by sending commands to swing the read/write arm back and forth creating a parasitic resonance that would eventually tear the drive apart.
Your drive might have been corrupted beyond your abilities to fix, but somebody with the proper knowledge and software tools could have salvaged it, assuming that the problem was virus related and not some other hardware issue that happened at the same time.

software firewalls are useless...and so are anti virus proggys imo....all they do is suck up resources...when I do run a virus check(which is maybe once a month) its at www.pcpitstop.com
and suess I don't know about hdd's but there are virus's that can detroy hardware..before the bios lock if you got a chernoble(sp?) it would flash the bios with junk and make it useless.....which in most cases makes the whole mobo useless...I actually got this virus on an old pc but caught it before it could do its damage....tho the anti virus software could not get rid of it....I had to zero out my hdd

You are correct. There was a very short window of time when they first started using flash bios that this was an issue.

the thing ism MJ if the subject was about a picture of shrooms, then it sure as hell wasnt a virus that sent that to you. the specific knowledge of the subject line is what gives that off. people call on you when they ate the wrong shit, and you help save lives im sure. and now someone has gone and fucked that up. someone is out to get you

Doh, I missed that in my first read of his post. You are correct, Zippoz, ... if it wasn't one of the canned 'Re: My Details' sort of emails then somebody was being mean.

Buy a mac, or linux OS. Oh, and don't use microsoft products which have huge gaping security flaws. I've been online since '92, currently have three networked macs at home. With 5 email accounts in the family, we've never had a virus. Never even owned an anti-virus program. Before you open any file labeled a picture, text etc, check info on the file (not sure how winblows does this but it's apple-i on the mac) and make sure it's a .jpg or .txt or whatever it's supposed to be. If it's an .exe then throw it out (unless it's supposed to be an executable program, but be careful opening these). At work I'm required to use a microsoft OS. The mail server is down more than it's up, I generally use my mac for anything important.

yeah, I am currently looking into linux myself after a recent conversion from IE to mozilla firebird (which is amazing and beyond my expectations - highly recommended to all lovers of the internet ).

Why the fuck would you buy a new computer if it destroyed your hard drive? You could have just spent $100 and replaced the hard drive...
