warts?
    #902582 - 09/23/02 09:21 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

My GT's have these white warts all over them, almost resembling the ones on muscarias.. What causes this? it looks like mycellium dried on the caps, or something?

is it bacterial?

i've also had some strange caps, that have had rotten spots on them. When they are barely ready for harvest.

anyone?

As you guessed, it's just mycellium. It's normal for cubensis to do this to some degree. The "rotten spots" on the caps sound like a bacterial contaminant. If they're just brown spots on the cap, you'll probably be ok.

full on rot, all the way to gel.

Only on one cap though, out of like the last 10 or 15 harvested mushrooms.

I would avoid those.

i ripped off the caps, would you toss the whole batch? i'm not one to be greedy, but a dog ate some of the mushrooms from this batch, and while he was on them he saw buddha and spoke to me, as well. He said they were excellent.

So i'm assuming the batch hasn't gone completely bad, but the bacteria should be worried about?

I would assume if you cut off the bad parts they would be ok, but proceed at your own risk.  I officially recommend not to do it, just in case you get sick..

Peace
