Contam or mycelium, good macro pictures
    #8981271 - 09/24/08 10:00 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

So some of my jars look good "to me, while others the stuff that is white I duno if its mycelium or mold or what not.

It appears to look like a web which spreads out in circle form. The color appears to be a bit darker and a bit thinner than in other spots, but in other spots in jar looks like white mycelium to me.

Knocked up the jars with LC 7 days ago. Pics are kinda dark cause I had flash light aimed at spots I wanted to take pics of, so color may seem off/ more redish tint.

Thanks.

Mold, bacteria, and yeast contamination.  Toss them.  I have strongly advised against LC from spores for many years for just this reason.  Too much valuable time is wasted before you even know your LC is growing mold, not mushroom mycelium.

Definitely cobweb. There is some mycellium in the bottom 2 pics probably, but there's cobweb too.

thanks, I agree in most of those pics, the stuff is more gray.

However like ray40cal said,

these two pics are from a jar I shot up with a spore syringe, not LC "thanks RR I learned my lesson, g2g for me from now on."

anyway any chance this is mycelium? It's much whiter like snow white, and growing denser.

just a update, the bottom jar on all sets of pics was not contam. It was knocked up with different multi spore syringe, and it fully colonized with ritzo and I spawned it to some horse poo buckets today. When I opened the jar it had that nice mushroom smell to it I enjoyed in my previous BRF grows.

The other jars knocked up with liquid culture I believe were contam with mold like RR said. There was very gray and much more spread out.

my LC tek was wack also cause I was microwaving the stuff.

peace

thats funny cause both pictures in that post are from the same jar and same spot just one is macro in very well.

If it was mold it was the most snow white rhizo mold I ever saw. The entire jar was colonized with rhizo growth after I shook it.

When I opened the jar, I didn't sniff but slightly took in a breath from 1 foot away, and smelled nothing but mushroom mycelium.

Either way I can easily isolate this outside now cause I have it colonizing in a small bucket of h poo.

here are a few more close up pictures of new jars I knocked up with multi spore that show rhizo growth, I'm pretty sure these aren't mold.

oh and on last one thats not trich near bottom, its sunflower seed and trick lighting. And I knocked these up with a strong MS syringe, so i had lots of germination, and thiner growth
