Goin' Big.

I'm still in my first grow with one FC of 6 GT cakes, and 6 B+ cakes. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/8869117/an/0/page/0 it has taught me, and given me a better feel for growing mushrooms, I have also experienced a personal general yield amount on this amount of setup. Al-tho this project was multi-spoor, It has given me the time to get LC from good specimens to start my next project.
Not that I'm unsatisfied with what I have, cause it was a great learning experience. ...but I have decided the concept of, "Go big or go home" is the direction I wanna go into.
After searching ALL-OVER for a whole day, I ended up with nothing (Searching for a portable greenhouse, or a portable closet) I have decided to just build my own. I could have just ordered one off the net, but I enjoy a good project, and working with my hands.
Here are the supplies I picked up;

4 - 24inch zippers, some duck tape, some strapping tape ( has lil string fibers running through it) Figured it would be very strong, a drop cloth (Just for extra supplies). 2 things of 60 sec. epoxy (To apply the zippers). I plan to possibly sow them in +use the epoxy. Also 2 heavy duty shower curtains. I got a navy blue one to go in front/sides (For privacy), and a clear one to go on top, and back (To let light in) I could have saved some money and just used some painters drop cloths but, I like that the curtains are really heavy duty, and also that they are;

I got a sturdy shelving for both the structure, and the shelving. I also picked up a large squatty sterilight container for the whole apparatus to sit in, Cause I figured with all the moisture, there would be allot of water dripping out the bottom.

I have looked at a few teks on Martha's, and will install a humidifier later when my project nears ready.
Here are a few more supplies for the deed I picked up;

Pint mason jars (For the grain), 2 bricks of Coir, thermometer/Hygrometer, 5 gallon bucket (to mix/pasteurize the substrate), a quart mix/measuring-cup, small bag of WBS (Might need more) and 6 Black 12 quart dish pans (For the Bulk)I have a few more odds-n-ends laying around the house (Foil, micro-pour-tape, syringes, verm, LC, and all that good stuff)
Can any one opinion-ate anything else I might need besides the humidifier (Will get a lil later into the project) ?

cakes=slow
grains=fast
1 quart= 4 half pints
17quart pc holds 7 quart jar= 28 half pints
doing grain gives you the ability to inoculate bulk substrates which can quadrouple the amount of shrooms you harvest.
im not saying your doin anything wrong.... just be lookin for a nice sized pc if you want to GO BIG

Hehe, yeah... good info. I mean, I'm going big, just not building a shroom lab lol... The factor of me living in an apt means its confined to a closet, ...but my project will prolly be as if I was running 4 tubs.

hey i never got bigger than a small closet....4x5x8h or more than a 18 gallon tit incubator and a 40 gallon fc.
its how u use the space available. 40 gallon tub will hold 15 to 20 cakes maybe more with a yeid of 3 g per cake thats around 60 to 80 g if everything gooes perfectly.
or u can use that same 40 gallon tub to produce 4 to 6 oz with horse or cow manure and grains.
note: these are rough yeilds but somewhat accurate

Shoeboxes, shoeboxes.
1 oz(+) avg per sterilite shoebox thing (not the real name, just donno what else to call it)
.
Get 5-10 of these going every week, you will not run out of mush. They are free at a thrift store, way way more portable than a green house, and the yield is more than respectable. Treat them like a miniature monotub.
See where the perlite is in the shoebox thing? That's where your spawn/bulk mix should go. Make it 3-5 inch deep sub layer and it will provide all the necessary humidity, just fan it a few times a day and mist when necessary (IME once a day, good misting helps).
Blap:

You can find those sterilites at any thrift store for free, they usually have hundreds stackecd up in a back room with nowhere to put them.
Once again, do not use perlite and cakes / trays, just fill it up with spawn and bulk. It is a self sufficient tray, no humidifiers or nothin needed just substrate & a few holes.

What I meant to say was, "I wanna share some with my friends too" in my area shrooms have only been available from 1-2 people, but all have stop growing. So they are rare, and I miss them. All my bros are like hungry lions clawing at my door, always asking when there gunna be rdy
got a small get-togethers worth so far with my one FC of cakes. There gunna be siked.
GT;

B+

But everyday just about, more shrooms roll in.

Hey. I am a little off topic, but I have some serious questions. I ordered my spore syringe and a spawning bag full of sterilized rye (3 lbs) with a self-healing disc to inoculate.
After the culture has colonized the bag, what would be the best way to transfer the mycelium to a larger container, and also what should I do from there(i.e.- prepare the substrate in the container? What substrate should I use? optimal casing techniques?)?
I have had some success with the PF Tek, but would like to go bigger. I read the martha's tek, but decided to instead go with a 15 gal. rubbermaid container which I already have.
thanks

well for one, I hope you haven't knocked up that bag before you even know what your gunna do with it... there are many many many options on how, and what to do with it. The choice is totally yours (After you read up) You have some teks to read, and some learning to do.
This guys a pro;
http://forums.mycotopia.net/holding-tank/30940-faht-makes-bulk-tub.html
for the substrates used, there very optional. I'll leave the rest of the options use to you. just use the search engine to look for teks you need... Hell, you could just look around on the forums and stumble upon most of what you need to know without asking any questions. Allot of people have help-full links to teks in there sigs... Get to learnin' !
