About to sterilize casing...

I plan to pc my mix (at field capacity) @15 psi for 45 minutes.
Any objections/suggestions?

i pastuerize my 50/50+ mix, i hear that sterilizing kills the stuff that protects your myc from contaming. I would PC with the rocker off until you get a steady flow of steam for 5 minutes, then let it sit for 30 minutes, then pc with a steady flow of steam for 5 minutes and let it sit until cool (i believe that was RR's suggestion for pasteurizing in jars)

I wouldnt PC it. You dont want to sterilize. If you sterilize the casing you will be far more likely to get contams.The bacteria in peat is beneficial and helps to protect against molds. The time to be sterile is when you prepare your grains, brf jars etc.

i had a hunch. i've read that many people just don't pc it or pasteurize at all, without consequence. thanks for the input.

I sterilized my casing mix and all but eliminated the mean green after I started doing so. :thumbup:
