It's been 5-6 days since I tried to root this cutting, is there something wrong with it I followed cpw's advice of just tap water and where to take the cutting from.

Did you change the water? You have to change it once in a while.

Yo Amber,I root all my cuttings in pure soil, and I keep it nice and moist. All my plants root in only a few days this way,and I've never gotten anything to root in pure water,no offense CPW,hehe.I've tried the pure water method, and my stem always rots, and I never see a single root.Trust me on this one, take it out of the water, push it down in the soil, don't let the soil dry up though, just water every day,to every other day,and I promise you it will root.also,it does depend on the plant though, too, but I think that should be a fairly easy plant to root.

Yeah c. zac has been noted as being easy I'll give it a go in some citrus soil since it drains water but retains moisture.

Well here's a shot of the plant now since I put it in the pot, watered it a little and two pinning nodes are sticking barelllyyyy above the soil.
Sat it outside in indirect sunlight to get better lighting, hopefully this baby will pickup!

I root mine in perlite, but I would expect soil to work. But I noticed your first post was only after 5 days. It's going to take a few weeks. As long as your leaves stay alive you are in good shape, no matter how long the time. I'd keep it inside where the condiions are east to control. It can root fine in ambient light.

Cuttings from the tops of Calea branches root easily in moist potting soil with a little rooting hormone. I first tried to root them in water but then I discovered for me soil is faster, easier, and has a higher rate of success.

I also like better to root things in soil rather than water. Only exception are Psychotria leaves for me.

Yeah,I even root my herbs in pure soil, and never have to use rooting hormones,or cloning gel.Last clones I took, every one rooted.

Leaves seemed to have drooped a bit after moving to soil, took it back inside next to a window so it wont be as hot; on a side note some cats knocked over all my peas and ate some of my cactus seedlings. Damn you cats.

Might want to think about a humidity tent if the leaves are drooping.

I think using some sort of medium is better than water because the roots will get more air. I dont really use rooting hormone on calea anymore.

Made a makeshift humidity tint out of plastic wrap wrapped all around the pot, looks like shit but hey it does the job. Should I keep it inside, or more it outside?

Very hardy, but my larger plant seems to wilt every morning until it gets it's water, has a high water requirement for a weed.
