Just wanted to say thanks to Moe for his outdoor tek. Put some spent casings in the ground 2.5 weeks ago and just picked a nice 50 gram cluster this morning. The nights have been pretty cool here but the patch is pinning like crazy. All my spent casings and contaminated jars are going outside from now on.

I live in southern ontario, canada...the strain is B+. During the day the temp. has been in the mid 20's C and around 12 C at night

just a quick question, i myself have been using that tek for about 3.5 weeks with pf classic strain. does the very top layer of straw colonize??? mine doesn't, i was just wondering if that was normal or not.

the top layer doesn't colonize...i believe the straw helps to keep everything moist

Hey All,
I am just beginning to reap the benefits of Moe's Outdoor Tek. I gave it a shot, and even monkeyed with the technique a bit. I found that it is remarkably forgiving and pretty simple to do. Contamination is just not an issue, which is awesome. You can even use cakes or casings that might have had some small contamination sites, as long as an effort is made to cut those parts out. I was pleasantly surprised by the result.
These small ones are quite robust, and I expect great results as more pins form! :smile:
