Stinkhorns? and a couple woodlovers

Habitat: relatively fresh cypress mulch
I found these right outside my front door. A terrible, mushroomy odor got me looking, and I found a few of these. There looks to be two different sp., but I'm not sure. From what I recall, they look like stinkhorns, and they sure stunk, but I've never found these before (my theory is the spores were in the mulch, which I laid down this summer)
Can anyone elaborate for me?

I also found these in a wood/leaf/grass clipping pile on the edge of the woods in my backyard. Theyve been growing for a little while, and I didn't want to break them to get a proper ID, they look so cool. So, I can't give the normal required ID specs, but there's some smart folks around here that I'm sure can give me some idea what these are (or aren't)

Yeah, your stinkhorns are one of the phallus species. I wouldn't want those in my garden.
The white woodlovers are a tough one to ID, perhaps a hebeloma sp.

Whats bad about em in the garden, just the smell? Otherwise they look pretty cool... definately phallic. It even has a little hole at the top! Is that where spores come from?
Are those first two pics different from the third, or is the third just not fully mature?

No, it's just the smell of carrion that I dislike The one in the third pic actually looks like it's decaying. The spore mulch on top gets eaten away by flies and other insects and the bare, white phallus is left to rot. Much like your own if you'd left it outside, I suppose Anyway, it's a bit hard to make out in the pic, it is possible that this is a young specimen, but at first glance, I'd say it's at the end of its cycle rather than at the beginning.

I believe you have Phallus Ravenelii.
The spores are on the outside of the cap instead of the inside. It attracts flies and the spores stick to the flies feet. Very cool fungus. Nasty smell though.

I found an immature dog stinkhorn a few days ago, and it actually had an interesting and rather pleasant smell, like wintergreen and blood-- not at all carrion-like. I dried it and hope to find more like it.

not really i will love to have those in my garden . this maybe can help : Stinkhorns occur "naturally" in North America, especially in subtropical and tropical regions--but some stinkhorn fruitings in temperate and north-temperate climates may be caused by human endeavors, resulting from the transportation of soil, sod, wood chips, trees, and so on.
the hole in the center , well we really are just starting to discover many thing about mushrooms anatomy , and desing , all thos thing have a porpuse, maybe to disperse heat, is my idea.
