I have my doubts, but thats a wildly speculative and uninformed thing for me to say.

Some do contain mescaline but in very very very low concentrations, sorta like how Pereskiopsis contains mescaline [at like 0.0002% or something, aka. worthless].

Yeah, kinda like the great Saguaro. It contains mescaline, but in such a small amount,it would be useless to try and extract it.

many cacti do. I believe even pereskiopsis contains mescaline. but like said, too little to try.

some studies of myrtillocactus geometrizans revealed trace amounts of mescaline also.
so ya alot of cacti have the right active alkaloids, just in such low concentrations that they are considered to be inactive.
1000 feet of myrtillo anyone?

imagine trying to chomp that down!
Prickly pear is cool for other reasons though - it has a whole lot of anti-oxidants in it, so it's very healthy.

the only bad thing is the seeds are big and HARD, so you cant just go nuts on them, you gotta kinda suck the fruit off the seeds...slows everything right down! but tasty!
how do you use the pads in tacos....sounds fun!

i hope that is a joke. if you go and cut down an ancient cactus just for your drug needs then i hope you get caught doing it.

Its called Nopales. Simply harvest a fresh young pad, one that has a nice light green color and hasnt yet lost its sheen. Next, you can remove the spines with a knife or running them over a flame. After removing those little buggers, simply slice into strips and fry them up. Tasty, almost like asparagus. http://www.desertusa.com/magdec97/eating/nopales.html

Yeah,It is illegal to mess with any of the native cacti in Arizona, especially the saguaro.I lived in Phoenix, and there were tons of cacti, and those huge saguaro's are in the hundreds of years old,so don't be messin with them.they say the Mescaline is in such a low content, that you'd probably have to eat your weight in it just to get a buzz.I lived in Arizona 10 years ago, back when I could give a shit about plants, now I'd give anything to move back, and hike the desert for amazing species.Maybe some day I will return.
