Help my baby is stuck

so i tryed to give birth and my baby is stuck in the jar i turned it back over in the jar and thunked it back to the bottom in hopes that would lossen it but trying agan and agan still hasn't losened my pore swollen baby what can i doooooo!!!!

please help!!! :blush: :frown:

Try folding up a towel and giving a good wack on a table . Use towel as a cushion to prevent breakage .
Put folded towel on table , smack jar down to release .

Get some other ideas before trying this one , I have only common sense knowledge , and lots o guessing ! :cool:

When I had this problem, I stuck a shrap kinfe in the middle of the cake. I applied a little pressure to a side of the kinfe and *pop*, I slid it right out.

well i think i'm gunna have to use the knife idea ....just spay it down with anti-bacterial spray before i geuss huh?

the towel think ain't the best of ideas cause i'm birthing it on to a mirror that's about 4 inch's square inside of the terairium made of mirrors so....somethin' might break

i don't really want to break the cake ....cuz then i'd have to case it and thats more werk then i want ...or am prepared for ...but breaking the jar might be an option if the knife don't werk ...how can i break the jar in good sized piece's ..so as not to have glass and bit's or cake flying everywhere

Set the towel or a magazine on a table and slam it on there (not too hard) to get the stuck cake out. Then make sure your hands are sterile, or wear clean rubber gloves to pick the cake up and put it in your terrarium. There may be slight bruising where you touch it, but the cake should be alright.

It may not be a good idea to "spray with antibac spray " this could be harmfull to mycelium , just heat up red hot , let cool and then make cut in cake . Similar to method use when innoculating or transfering cultures .  :cool:

Do it on a clean table , then transfer cake to grow chamber (make sure your hands are very clean ) . But if jar is tapered you probably will have to break cake . You could also try sterilizing knife , then stick in jar and follow perimeter edge to loosen cake ( this may be way too rough on mycelium though ).  :cool: 
P.s. there is no safe way to break jar , with exception of a glass cutter .
If it is that bad ,throw some casing on surface  and call experiment !

Why is your terrarium made of mirrors, and why are you birthing the cake onto a mirror? I anticipate this being a problem, as you mushrooms are going to want to grow towards the light. The mirrors are going to confuse them. If you do some searching in past posts of this forrum you will see people experiencing problems with birthing onto aluminum foil for the same reasons. The light reflected off of the aluminum foil has been known to cause mushrooms to grow down instead of up!

well the bottom off my mirror box is covered firstly with a mesh and secondly with perlite and the top of the box is one diagonal piece of glass (for drips) and another flat on top of it ...as it's lid ....it's all siliconed together with hardboard on the out side it has a vent for intake humidity and small clear pvc tubing for water runoff
and the mirror the cakes are being birthed on to are just big enough for the cake to sit on .....and i always heard mirrors steal light ....(thats way pot won't grow well in the box) do you think that the way i put this together is wrong?

Mirrors do not "steal" or absorb light , at least not in this dimension , they reflect it .  :smirk: If light hits mirror it will reflect light on underside of cake :frown: causing them to try to grow toward light source , or in this case toward the mirror .

Yes, but when light intensity is critical the amount of light lost when using mirrors would be unacceptable. The mirror itself does reflect light, but the glass absorbs much of it as well. This is why most professional growers use either flat white paint or aluminized mylar.

Glass is more opaque than it appears.  If you look at glass lengthwise, you'll notice it usually appears green.  Also, the mirrored coating of the glass does reflect light well.  It's the fact that light has to pass through the glass twice that hurts a mirror's performance.

Why not? Mushrooms are phototropic and do not rely on photosynthesis at all.
