Blacklights and tripping-I bought a bulb!

I bought a 75 watt blacklight bulb, its standard size and fits in standard stockets. it glows a dim ultra violet! I was thinking I can turn the lights off and turn the blacklight lamp on and this may make for some interesting visuals :smile: anyone tried that?

Some people like them, some people hate them. Personally, I'm not terribly fond of them. They make all of the white and fluorescent items glow. Novel effect but gets old quick for me. I prefer looking at the natural color of things or darkness. Also, I hear the incandescent ones suck. I've never tried them. I always went for the fluorescent and they work very well.

rourke's right on this one, the flourescent ones are far superior. a nice 18" flourescent fixture and tube should run you no more than $20. as for use when tripping, if you're in your house just place it strategicly against a wall or something for added effect - i don't think i would enjoy an entire black-lit room, 'cause like micky said, the novelty would wear off soon.

IMO, the best thing to do with blacklights are buy some blacklight paints, and draw stuff...either on people, the walls, or yourself. When I had my blacklit room, I poured blacklight paint into a a glass coke bottle with water, and then it glowed and was really awesome room decor'.

Blacklight posters do get old after too much staring at them...once you've seen all the hidden pictures you can find, it's best to buy new ones. I had that poster with the two elves drinking tea on shrooms and um...wheeew, i saw a lot of pictures while tripping.

I can't stand Blacklights... They might a scene look all gloomy and ugly. They remind me of raves also! but if you have blacklight paint + a blacklight that would be a night of being naked and painting your body!

I replaced the two 48 inch flourescent bulbs in my dorm room with blacklights, and I love it. I like to turn off all the other lights and draw with flourescent markers. Then I stick all the trippy shit I draw up on the wall.

I'll take a strobe light anyday over a blacklight. Although I like the kind of black lights where you can adjust the speed of the blinking, or turn it to where it's just a streight light.
