Their edible but not very palatable or tasty, if you were fishing it would be like eating carp, really not worth the prep work.

i hear ya!...thanks for the input....i figured they were probably ok just because im sure in some of my larger weilii hauls of around 100+ mushrooms after hurrican ivan hit a few years back, im sure a veluntina or 2 probably got mixed in an eaten by a customer....that sounds horrible..but probably true

No, I only eat chanterrelles, morels, black trumpets, oysters and every once in awhile hen or chicken of the woods. Their is no point eating some cruddy mushroom with no taste when i can pick a delicious oyster mushroom to go with my steak.

If you're mixing up psathyrella with an active species, you might possibly also mix up galerina autumnalis. Great way to advertise your business.

by the way you must admit that galerina's are not even close to being as tough a look-alike as p. weilii, nor as common.....and i know they are toxic, so i would keep a better eye out for those when scanning my haul...as i *figured* veluntinas were no.....there is no "business" just a few extra dollars on the hustlin' weilii TIP

Mixing in galerinas is a lot more likely in collections of ps. cyanescens, I grant you that. Still, be wary of mixed collections, especially if you gather for resale. I wonder if I'd be able to have a single good trip anymore after being responsible for someone contracting severe mushroom poisoning.
About the psathyrellas: I never tried them either, but several sources illustrate the bland taste and lack of structure of psathyrellas in general.
