So my second liberty attempt (p.sem) I went hunting two weeks ago, because it cooled down a little found 5 or 8 different species within 10 minutes, non of which I felt confident enough to ID as liberty cap Last week I went out again, and just walked in the field with my dog, the abundance of species is gone. Just found 2 kinds this time, and 1 was brown with brown gills and light brown spores) 3 other little shrooms I'm pretty sure that look like libs. I really have to get into these species, I now can distinguish between species that are growing in the fields here, but have a hard time on id-ing them, so far I can just tell them apart from each other
Habitat: pasture, occupied by horses 5 pastures which are grazed separately, when grass is finished horses move to the adjacent field. these where found in a field that hasn't been grazed for several weeks (tall grass) shrooms were standing in the grass (difficult to see because gras is to long. Not specifically near dung
Gills: Brown (see pic), same as cap, but covered in dark spores.
Stem: thin stem (hollow) 10-15cm 4-6inch
Cap: 1cm in diameter, colour (see pic)
Spore print color: jet black
Bruising: no colour..............
temperature is dropping below 10°C and daytime varies from 14-20°C I guess an average of 16-17°C

Looks like a Panaeolus to me. Look at the cap shape and note the jet black spore print. Look at some pictures of liberty caps to get a better idea. Their spore print is dark purplish brown. Also, liberty caps have a seperable gelatinous pellicle.
Here is a link to a guide on Liberty cap hunting.
Here is a link that describes the separable gelatinous pellicle. This is a useful feature that Liberty caps have and is easily recocgnisable.
Good luck!

that is the problem, I find it very difficult to id them from pics for instance http://www.zauberpilz.com/zpgallery/gallery.php?gal=7&nr=26 To me those are very similar to mine?
But the spores dark purplish brown....... Ok I might be wrong about the jet black on my finds, but black they are for sure. to bad... really thought they had to be black?? Guess I mixxed it up with another species

Dont give up man just keep at it no matter what, staying positive is one of the most important things about hunting shrooms.
Ya never know tomorrow you might find a hundred.
It took me a year of hunting to find Ps. weilii, but once i found my first patch i knew what to look for.

I have found in all the lib patches I have found, Pans are always near by, so you are on the right trail but libs just may not be growing yet or the temperature may not be just right. The biggest way I tell pans from libs apart when I started hunting was pans are usually much darker, stems are usually very straight, and the gills are almost completly black while the libs are more of a tanny colour(from my experience), stems are wavy and tan as well and the gills are a brown colour.

this weekend I've been looking in between the sheeps... nothing not even a pan. completely unknown area for me, but worthwhile to try I guess.

As I pm-ed this week, it's just too early still; weather's too warm. You may find the odd lib, but large numbers will only appear once especially the daytime temps drop a few degrees. Wait for that real early autumn weather: chilly and humid.

Btw, those pics you linked to are of pretty mediocre quality; try this link for some really good ones: http://www.pilzepilze.de/galerie/v/Lateinisch/P/psilocybe/semilanceata

He Koraks, don't think I doubt you or something but i guess it's a little wishfull thinking.... as soon as I saw ice on top of the office building next to my office ....
As I kinda pm-ed you, the bolete season was really early.... and I kinda missed out on it this year, I'm very carefull now not to miss out on the lib season. And I'm just a little worried my lib id-ing skills are not developed that well yet
by the way thks for the link, I've checked it out, seems to me there is a lot of subtile colour variation in them.
