Who's dorm was it and who was in possession of the paraphernalia? Also, I hope you didn't admit to anything, we have the 5th amendment for a reason .

As long as you didn't 1. Have it on you 2. Admit to it
You should be good, because you were just in the room and weren't in immediate possession and it wasn't your room, your friend on the other hand may be in trouble.

yeah dude, you should have, bros always let bros get away clean if they can, you really made a lot of wrong decisions, overall I think it is just a learning progress about how our legal system works and hopefully you can get out of it clean.
Also, just because you got a ticket doesn't mean you are going to get anything bad, it's up to the judge/jury what happens, a ticket just means you have to go to court.

Fine will be up to $1000 or up to 6 months in jail most likely. What will end up happening most likely will be 6-12 months on probation or something of that effect.

haha. im not so much worried about the legal aspect as the school side. im much more concerned about my schooling than some money lol. i wouldnt think that a judge would send two 19 year old students to jail on a first time offense over a pipe (hope not!)
*this is my first encounter with law enforcement, so thats why im so nervous

that's understandable, I have had a few encounters with cops but have yet to get arrested (thank god!) But I can see how that would fuck up school for ya, I wish you the best of luck bro! And I agree with some other posters in that you need a good lawyer! Best of luck!

Paraphernalia charges are nothing. I've had plenty lol. I've even had ones in bumfuck little texas towns and even there all I had to do was pay a fine. There's a chance it may not even make it to your permanent public record accessible to most.

After reading your story what you REALLY need to figure out is if this will be interefere with your school. In Florida if you get any drug related charge you don't get scholarships (Bright Futures). Make sure you keep your nose clean, take care of every detail, and treat it like a big deal.

The biggest thing is trying to get it removed from your record, because that's all that really matters in the end.

I had a paraphenalia and possession of marijuana charge but it was my first time so they gave made me do a drug diversion class and pay a 200 dollar fine for the bong (a drug para charge is worse then a small marijuana possession charge), apparently i had all charges wiped clean after the class..
but trust me, once your in the computer, theres no gettin you out of trouble, dont piss off highway cops, they'll use any excuse to bust your arse even an old para charge will give them the initiative to do a very thorough search and abuse your rights as a human being it was done to me after the initial legal troubles.. be smart only carry weight in your vehicle if you HAVE 2... just my 2 cents

If your dorm has a zero tolerance drug policy you ought to start looking for an apartment and a job to fund it if you don't want your parents to know.

Depending on what you confessed to when the cops were there... you are probably best off if you deny everything.
From what you've told us...
Here's a new mantra:
It wasn't your dorm room, and it wasn't your pipe, not your alcohol... and you were not charged for possession or intoxication. You were just in the wrong place, when the cops crashed your friend's dorm.
Fuck your friend... if he is smart, he'll do the same thing to you. This isn't personal at all, it is simply how the law works.
Get a lawyer if you can, this shouldn't be a hard case to make.
NEVER toke in a dorm!
-------------------- Fiddlesticks.
