Gonna have to say EDITs got nothing on tipper production wise, seriously though Seamless Unspeakable Something is so damn well produced.
don't know who Edit is, but Richie Devine and Speedy J are heavy hitters, originals in the game. just listening to Metaphysical Function in Reaktor, a 2004 ensemble they both helped design, gives a small testament on how meticulous they are when it comes to sound design.
I actually just listened to the seamless, while more dance-friendly, it's not nearly as sonically impressive as Patterns (and that's from 1997!) or Devine's Cautella

Just gave em a listen actually yeh fairplay i wouldn't say they are that much better though production wise maybe slightly. Not half as many different sounds/layers as tipper though. Need the CD to give a fair judgement though. I fucking hate myspace/youtube. Can't hear anything when listening to stuff like this.

i know what you mean, 128kbit mp3s are shit compared to cda or lossless, much less to vinyl
some old friends of mine once gave me 5 white fluffs which I promptly ate, then mixed some tracks...patterns was one of those tracks...when it dropped, I felt like my jaw hit the floor and my head exploded, but it felt so damn nice

used to dig funkstorung and prefuse 73, but they kinda stagnated. savath y savalas (prefuse's other project) is nice, but it's more instrumental. I have Chris de Luca and Peabird's and Funkstorung's Return to the Acid Planet albums just collecting dust
let's see... a lot of people like Helios, it's more on the ambient side. Team Doyobi is chaotic, sort of like venetian snares. actually, downright odd.. synthesizers/samplers with ADD, sort of like Tipper but with a crazier sound.(sometimes it gets annoying)
Flying Lotus is aight. Caural is pretty cool too; sort of on the downtempo glitch side, but they also have upbeat tracks.
here's a site where you can hear some sets from the latter two artists, and a bunch of other good ones http://www.percussionlab.com/index.shtml

awesome vid. I have Vocal Studies and Uprock Narratives on cd, this makes me want to spin it on the SL-DZ1200.
I really love glitch-hop, almost as much as I love trip-hop. that's why Merck records (now defunct) was tops. Eastern Developments (owned by prefuse) and Ghostly International are dope as shit too.
I'll bump this thread and link to a couple of SICK merck mixes when I get all the tracks together
here's a glitchtastic machinedrum track remixed by Brothomstates
I have this on vinyl, makes for good quick scratching

"intelligent dance music", essentially ambient+experimental. artists like aphex twin/polygon window, speedy j, and autechre paved the way for this genre back in the early 90's. The "intelligent" factor refers to the process of making this kind of music: it features the use of processed samples/microsamples, sometimes sequenced in a random fashion. it's often a bit chaotic

Loess
here's a Loess remix of a Helios track. the beat drops in at about 6:06
Helios makes some of the most textured ambient out there, really surreal soundscapes. same with loess, though they're known for dropping slick beats too
