No action?

Why are people here more interested in bitching and whining rather than getting involved and taking action against injustice?

Of what injustice do you speak exactly?

Whatever injustice you see that you believe needs correcting.

The most universal here (this being the Shroomery) is being the possibility of being jailed for doing mushrooms and marijuana.

Does that not disturb you?

I think it's because we don't quite know how. We're all just sitting here at our computers. Are we gonna wait until cops are trying to bust down our doors to arrest us for what they suspect we have in our houses to fight back? I hope not, but will complaining to our congressmen make any difference? In fact, I think our system of federal justice is so far out of the people's control that I don't see how it could be used to correct itself.
What sort of action do you mean here? Direct action? like proetest and demonstrations? Or indirect action like petitioning, taking surveys and writing congressmen?

Are you talking about the Nevada Pot thing?

If I lived in Nevada I would have to vote NO.. The way the bill is written leaves way too much room for outrageous punnishments for those under 21, those who buy from a dealer rather than a licensed seller and those who cultivate.
The people of Nevada were doing such a good job by getting posession brought down from a felony to a misdemeanor, now they have left things open to go right back up again for everyone not following the new pot rules.
The state WILL have controll over the Marijuana production and distribution and licensing. Whose to say that they will do good with it? Whose to say that they will even bother...
It may have been the people who voted for this but its Government calling all the shots and the way this bill is written people are giveing up all their bullets..

I liked Alaskas Marijuana legelization attempt a few years ago... It didnt set weight restrictions, government regulations or even age requirements.. It simply challenged the schedualing of the drug and they almost got it changed from a I to a II.

I worked on the California Prop 215 in SanFrancisco years ago.. Now that was a well written proposition.

I never ask anyone to agree with me. I give you props for having taken the time to read and contemplate the initiative. That was but one example. I am sure that there are matters close to your heart that you could do more to affect change.

What actions or campaigns are you involved in? In what ways have you taken action? If you talk about it it will inspire people to do the same. What are some succesful courses of action you have taken? What actions have failed? and why for both previous questions.

I am currently interested in the government's subsidiation of tobacco. Why does the government use our tax dollars to sink money into farmers who are growing a very dangerous and harmful crop that is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans? I just thought about it on thursday when we were talking about government subsidies in my economics class. Doesn't seem right. I haven't done much research into it yet, but I'd like to hopefully soon.

Oh, definately it is all about the money for the votes. Nevertheless it is something I am going to look into and at least write to my senators and reps about. Like I said, everything is in the very early early stages. I've just started doing some research and I hope to hear back this week concerning some of the question I had. I don't think that I will be able to accomplish much, but maybe. If I don't do anything else I hope to open a few eyes. I don't think a lot of people even realize that the governtment does subsidize a such a deadly and addictive crop. If they do realize and just don't care, I guess I will have to make them care. I really don't feel that the Gov. should be providing subsidies anyway, but so it goes. One step at a time.

You don't know what people here are doing, you have no right to complain. From what I see, you're not doing anything either. Quit your whining.
