Make sure that they are getting plenty of air exchange. Open the cover or whatever and fan them 5X a day. Put a florecent (sp>) next to them 16 hours a day. That's all I got.

But you need to fan them. Like, take a plastic tote lid or equivalent and fan them mannnn.
5 times a day.
Besides that all I can think of is humidification...
Pics??

Cakes then I take it?
I've only used bulk substrates.
Make sure you have sufficient humidification.
Mushies are mostly water.
Don't spray with a water bottle though.
Use a humidification device.
Also, please fan several times a day.
Fresh air exchange, light, and humidification.
If you need a recommendation for a bulk substrate supplier try highmountaincompost. Spawned rye to it (about 1 pound spawn to 5 pounds compost 4.5 inches thick) and it was fully colonized & knotting like crazy on day 7 after spawn.
Good luck friend. Try bulk substrates.

10-12$ for the tub 3-4$ for polyfill manure/straw free 3-4$ for rye
youll also need jars, a pressure cooker and a few other things but as long as your self suffient like using your own prints and stuff you really only need to buy rye and the occasinal other few ingredients

dry substate and lack of humidity are the main reasons for small shrooms.
Why shouldnt you mist a mycobag?? I dont see why not. We mist cakes and casings so why not bags.
Mist before fanning.

I think you are safe to spray cakes if they are covered in vermiculite. That acts as a casing for them. From my (very) limited experience undeveloped mushrooms are coming from : lack of nutrients, lack of water , or lack of oxigen. Since i don't think the first one is a problem to you i sugest misting the cakes from a nice distance so only finer water particles reach them and making sure they get oxygen. I let my cased grains have air around 2 or 3 times per day and they seemed to be doing just fine. Good luck and when you start doing the right thing you should see signs of growth within the next day in my experience . HOpe this helped

What is your humidity at? Did you dunk your cakes?
I had the same problems with my first few grows then I dunked all my cakes and rolled them in fine grade vermiculite. The difference in size and flush amount was absolutely stunning! They need water! and fresh air!
I went from 2-4in. mushrooms to 6-10in. mushrooms just by dunking and rolling alone. Also, much thicker :>

Well I am not too familiar with mycobags, but if I am not mistaken dont you take them out of the bag to fruit once fully colonized? I do see why you wouldn't be able to dunk them. But anyway, this could be your problem if you are getting small and thin fruits. Seems like there was not enough hydration and/or humidification.

All you can do is fan and mist. After they flush might as well dunk the stuff and put into trays, plus a terrarium. Dunno bout bags n such seems retarded to me. A big tote that can fit 50 cakes only costs 7 dollars.

huh no i didn't know that was a cake, thought u were using mycobags? There's really no benifit to crumbling and casing cakes when you can just dunk and roll. Still the same amount of substrate = same amount of shrooms, just casing gives it a healthy microclimate and lots of needed water, but so does dunk/roll. Same concept, different shape. Something i've done, and liked with cakes is after 2nd flush crumble it and spawn it to coir. I did that to 2 1/4 pint cakes, which = 1 regular sized cake, and the right picture in the sig is what came of it. About a half. 12 grams or something dry.
