I read somewhere that spores have twice the amount of genome types that most organisms do. This results in something like 32,000 different combinations before inbreeding occurs. Anyone know what I'm vaguely referring to? If so, could you link me to some sources?
I'm going to be giving a 2 and 1/2 minute speech on the life cycle of a fungus and wanted to include that tidbit if i could find it again.
