ID Help! i found a potential psycobilin mushroom in my backyard?
    #8923798 - 09/13/08 02:00 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I live in N. Texas and i found a couple shrooms in my yard that look like some type of psycobilins but before i eat them i want to make sure they are.  Here are some pictures to help. i would appreicate it if you guys would help me id it. however the spores arent there anymore i spotted the mushrooms yesterday and when i went to pick them today only the top layer of the cap was still there (yesterday when the whole cap was there it was dome shaped but it wasnt a liberty cap it wasnt that pointy.

Stems: white w/ slight beige coloring; the bigger shrooms stem is twisty at the bottom
Location: In the middle of the lawn.
Grouped Together: No, I found 3, but they were all by themselves, a few feet away from one another

it looks like an animal ate the cap of one of them so does that mean it is edible?

"it looks like an animal ate the cap of one of them so does that mean it is edible? "

no not at all probably insects got to it, and no just by looking at this it does not look active or edible, so do not eat, until a mod comes along and denies it further.

You might want to check your backyard for your patience. You must have left it there.

what were you hoping to achieve by eating it? even if it was active it wouldnt be enough to tell from eating it. if it was posinous  however you will be able to tell from just one

Obvious troll is obvious. And OP, you should really scour your backyard now to try to find more of those same shrooms. Some mushrooms can take weeks before the poisons destroy your liver. Having a specimen to show the doctors could be helpful, AND having a nice clean specimen to show us might help us identify whether or not you just poisoned yourself.

About two weeks ago I thought I found some cyanescens but they turned out to be deadly galerina. Same poisons found in Amanitas. Yes we all want to get high, but if you can't muster enough patience to wait a few weeks to get a good specimen, look up posting requirements for mushroom identification, and get a spore print then you shouldn't be hunting for your shrooms. You should be buying them or doing some other drug.
