Nope... won't be sending you the video. Sorry. You could come see it if you like. It's just too much effort and it won't change anything.

The video isn't all that interesting... he only goes on about the power of crystals and then I cut it. I didn't have my camera ready when he was talking about the aliens. His facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice all SCREAMED insanity. It was a weird (but in the end worth it) experience.

Is that supposed to be insightful???

All we CAN judge a person by is their mask. We derive their person by observing their external behavior. Maybe YOU have some "special" insight into the workings of the brain... but not all of us have that purported (?) luxury.

I think schizophrenia is bullshit.  I don't think it's a disease caused by a physical problem in the brain, I think it's what happens when you go too far back into the mind.  The mind of a "schizo" never slows down so unless they'res constant external stimulation the mind/brain is forced to use memories and whatnot to form new experiences.  These new experiences are strictly internal, yet they create memories, feelings, sensations, etc that seem real.

Anyone who believes what they see and think has any more importance than anyone elses thoughts and experiences is living in an illusionary world.

There are a lot of thoughts going through the minds of many people but unfortunately they're all looping around the same old box.  Like a famous book says "There's nothing new under the sun."  What could be more true than that?

The problem with allowing people to think on their own is that they will almost undoubtedly come to the wrong conclusion...

now i must tend to the gnome telling me to burn things.. heheheh

and yea, in case ya couldn't tell, I'm about done with being depressed and all that crap.  I woke up today and I simply did not want to feel like that anymore.  I'm not holding onto bullshit baggage from the past any longer... it's back there were it needs to stay =)

You want a real eye opener read Thomas Szasz's "The Myth of Mental Illness".

That'll squiggy your third eye.

Cheers,

Medical definition of schizophrenia.
Sure sounds like a disease to me.

BTW, a disease doesn't HAVE to have physical origins. I've personally witnessed many psychosomatic illnesses (while shadowing various doctors). Self-induced anxiety can lead to many problems... backpain (due to tightened muscles), headaches, depressed immune function, high blood pressure (this can fuck up MANY things), etc.

In reply to:

Interesting concept... now some words about this 17 yr old Shroomery wacko
called cybernaut3... not all "mental illnesses" are such a bad thing...

I was born with something called high-functioning autism, or aspberger's syndrome... most of my mind was quite developmentally accelerated during my childhood, but some areas like social skills were quite delayed. I have little idea how to purposefully project any sort of "mask". I don't have much natural body language, facial expression, or voice expression, and though I have learned these things to some extent, I usually have no idea how i am coming across. It's all contrived. I sometimes get stuck on topics in perpetual but logical loop-type thinking, have one very intense intellectual obsession on a topic that changes every few years, and use a huge vocabulary in everday conversation. Lots of creativity, photographic memory, perfect musical pitch, etc. but its hard to connect with people one on one or in a group in order to effectively communicate.

Albert Einstein has been posthumously diagnosed with this, and others who very likely had this include Mozart, Andy Warhol, composer Bela Bartok, inventor Nikola Tesla, cartoonist Robert Crumb, and chess player Bobby Fischer. So do many profs, intellectuals, artists, chess players, etc. We just appear eccentric and aloof, and perhaps also a little arrogant. Thanks to this wonderful genetic mutation, I get a whole hell of a lot of benefits, and the best part is that I get less and less "weird" every day. Psychedelic drugs (esp. shrooms and acid) enable me to progress at a much faster rate, even unlocking new powers of mind possessed by "normal" people that I was never supposed to be able to use.
So the moral of the story is not to talk to somebody for three seconds and then write them off as a nut case, when actually they might be a rather sane sort of nutcase like me!

completely agree with you there cybernaut... my ex-girlfriends brother was autist and i have to say... RESPECT... because he was gifted... anyways i think everyones brain operates differently... some people might be better at creative tasks and some people are better at geometry and maths... other are far better at languages and alikes... everyone has his gifts, and everyone has his "slow points" or "crazy spots"... but fact is, all great minds have to hear they are insane at least once in their lives... so who's to diagnose something like that... it's like the movie "beautiful mind" ...

Re: Umm schizophrenic forum or what? [Re: cybernaut3]

I was "diagnosed" with ADD when I was about 6, but I've read a lot about it and other mental illness and I believe I was misdiagnosed. my 'symptoms' are more like that of asperger's syndrome, cybernaut pretty much just described me. I don't mind it much, though I have problems with social interaction in real life, on the internet I seem to do just fine since it's just expression of ideas and not having to deal with making eye contact with people and such... but it's fine for me because I don't really desire constant social interaction. I'm perfectly happy to spend a majority of my time alone.
through most of my life until a few years ago I got picked on for being "odd" (among other reasons) so now I also have some sort of social anxiety disorder or inferiority complex...or something... but I'm working on it myself and I don't think I need to see a professional (though at bad times I wonder if I should)
but about schizophrenia... the symptoms can be corrected with medications, and if that's the case, isn't it more evident that it is caused by chemical imbalances and not some crazy paradigm-shift?

I agree with that.

Anxiety sucks, but it's a learned trait and, thankfully, it can be unlearned.  I constantly compare myself to others (or, I used too.  I'm much more aware of it now and simply let the bad thoughts pass through without affecting me).

I judge people unfairly and I allow myself to feel superior to others.  This is probably because all through school (I mean all the way, every day, from kindergaden till I dropped out in 11th, in 6 different schools in two different states)...) I was picked on, made to feel insignificant, ignorant, etc.  I don't know why I had to go through all of that, but I did and I'm now realizing that (along with countless other things) those negative experiences impacted me in a very big way.

But everyday I do a little bit to help myself get passed all of it.  I'm just unconditioning my mind because I don't want life to pass me by.  I'm not going to allow myself to get stuck on one way of thinking for too long.

Anyways.. I'm just blabbing on and on.. heh.  Damn I feel pretty good today
