How do you cross strains, isolate genetics/traits, and how do you stabalize

So the main questions on my mind tonight is this: 1. How do you cross 2 strains of cubensis mushroom? (I want to cross a thai strain with texas)
2. How do you isolate genetic traits (large fruits, high potency, ect)
3.How do you stabalize genetics in a mushroom? If I want the prolific fruiting from one specimin how would I keep that?
4. Do cloned mushrooms produce spores and are those spores multi spore still or are they the same as that exact mushroom?

1. crossing strains isn't possible is it?
2. agar and cloning
3. agar isolation and printing

1. crossing strains isn't possible is it?
No, it is, and it's not altogether difficult but it's time consuming, slow work that requires having several master cultures available to pull stock from after each generation. And, for the record, _crossing_ is a much more accurate term for this than hybridizing or whatnot.
Not that I'm overwhelmingly qualified to discuss the subject, but the ten-cent wiki-how would read something like this...
1. Create a single-sector isolate of Desired Strain A. 2. Create a single-sector isolate of Desired Strain B. 3. Grow out the two strains on a new dish...
(deep breath) At that point the two strains should form a wall of isolation between each other as they grow. If your lucky, a third sector of growth will form and you will need to isolate that, that is your "First Generation" cross between the two strains.
To verify the cross you can transfer a bit of it along with each original strain onto a new dish. If all three form a wall of isolation between each other, the cross is viable to be grown out. If not, you'll need to try again...
At this point you would grow out your first generation cross and create a new single-sector isolate culture from the most promising fruits that seem to contain the genetics you desire and repeat the process by crossing it back to one of it's ancestors, based on which traits you are trying to promote or breed out...
---- Like I said, I'm definitely no expert on the matter but that's very high-level detail of it all. It's not incredibly difficult but with so many strains out there that are almost identical in appearance and favored habitat, there's really no reason to do it other than for the sheer joy of PLAYING GOD!!!!!!!! (ok, I get ahead of myself sometimes)

hahah that's some good info man!
great reply!
i knew people have done it, but the commonality of it is next to null.
why not give it a try if you have agar, dishes, and the spare time?
cross a penis envy with an F+ that'd be fun.

I think it would be more fun to create a cold-weather hardy variant that could be prolific in the 45-70(F) temperature ranges rather than a 65-85(F) ...

So if i'm back to multi spore then how the fuck do I keep the genetics with the spores to trade as a mushroom print of a new mushroom strain..?

U right! But the hard part of this is shrooms ain't flowers. By crossing 2 strains in a agar dish you have a 1 in a mil chance of crossing the strains. It's a mother nature thing. But when it work you have the best(and worst) of both. Go for it. When and if I get enough spores to play with I'll be doin' the same thing. Shamrock 2ya'

Sounds useful. Contams would be low with that one. I'd kinda be surprised if anyone were able to do that though.
Cold hardy Panaeolus Cyanescens would be better than cubensis.
