mushroom hunting question (kind of a poll)
    #8888755 - 09/07/08 12:30 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Well, i was talking to a couple friends of mine both of which are amateur hunters. I was asking them questions it came up that one of them hunts a specific mushroom, while the other grabs what he can and IDs them later. I had always thought the right way was the method i mentioned last, but now im not sure. Can anyone provide clarity? Maybe there are multiple methods.

                                Your help is much apreciated,
                                        ~The Dark~

both, method can be real good depending what you want ?
probably picking all you can and id later will make you understand mushrooms faster that the other way , but also to hunt the other way you should have to be read and read and look all other mushrooms too,  so  is can of the same  but depemd how you look at it, and how much effort you put in your intentions.

The term 'hunting' implies that you have at least a pretty good notion of what you are likely to encounter and how to deal with it. Just grabbing anything from a field and trying to ID it might be a good way of learning about mushrooms and familiarize yourself with different species, but in my opinion it has nothing to do with hunting at all.

First comes a stage of just learning, then comes (possibly, if you persevere) a stage of learning and collecting. The second stage never ends.
