Mid. to late October is my bet.  A bit earlier for the artificially watered locals.  See you when the rain dances on the floating leaves of color.

cardboard, thats a foolish thing to say. global warming is a damn joke. the whole universe is warming up, it's not just global. it was sooo fucking cold last year too. last year sandy and gresham area got more snow than in the last 5 years, and i don't think we'll have to wait for january for mushrooms. oh yeah and pnw hunting isnt played out cool guy. get looking.

Hey, just for clarification, everyone here is looking for Psilocybe Cyanescens, right? I'd thought I'd read Copelandia Cyanescens don't grow in the PNW.

If that's the case I also wanna make sure that I'm looking in the right places, I thought P. Cyans DIDN'T grow on cow manure, only C. Cyans did. Am I right on this or am I now totally lost and confused?

james chappy you are correct. psilocybe cyanescens dont grow on cow shit. wood chips and shit like that. we don't have copelandia cyanescens here. at least not usually or natively.

Psilly, Senor Hongus of course I am still here =)  Should be more active but ya know how it goes.  Strange year, semis popped early in Euroland, Chanterelles have been up in force for 3 weeks and are now drying out.  Cyans were on the verge but then we got this kinda "cool" (not cool) indian summer action.  Now we got fire warnings for the North Cascades!!  Gotta love washingon.

john allen found copelandia cyanescens at a horse ranch in Tumwater, WA
this is the only report of copelandia sp in washington that im aware of.





and it just rained with heavy winds where im at, plenty of spores being pushed around and hydrated :cheers:

even a smiley raindance does the trick :wink:

yeah cptngarden i heard about that too thats why i said not usually or natively.:) anyways i just went on a hunt through some suburbs in portland. checked out some nice green lawns and sidewalk gardens. no actives:(, but found some foes and some cool psytharellas. not sure what species of psytharella tho.
it's cloudy and cool and rain is in the forecast in a few days!!!!
i'm ready for many rainy, but hopefully fruitful walks!

I was just looking at psilygirls gallery and was wondering if sum of you cyan hunters could answer a question for me.

I saw in one of her pics a pair of scissors and I was wondering when picking mushrooms off of wood chips do you need scissors?

Ive found mushrooms on wood chips before and when i tried to twist and pull them out like i do when I pick  Ps. weilii, it brought up a massive chunk of mycelium at the base of the stipe.

So is it better to use scissors when picking actives from wood chips?

I like to pull them out, ive read it makes the patch produce more and have witnessed this.

Also the only reason i pull them out is that Ps. weilii grow in clay soil so very little myc cums up that way and its faster which helps you get in and get out in urban areas.

Yes on wood loving mushrooms you want to use scissors instead of just pulling them out. Otherwise it could damage the whole mycelium mat under the grownd
