Palin's handwriting ON an earmark! SIGNED!
    #8876348 - 09/04/08 01:00 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Alright guys, so we know that Palin is lying about not having supported the bridge to nowhere. We know that she is lying about being a reformer on earmarks and wasteful spending, after all, her town received nearly 20 million in earmarks by the time she left office as mayor. We know she hired a lobyist to petition for money for her small town whose job was to secure earmarks. Well, this newest morsel shows her HANDWRITING on an earmark presented to her own city council:

http://www.washingtonindependent.com/4328/more-on-palins-true-stand-on-earmarks

Quote:

FYI This does not include our nearly one million Dollars from the Feds for our Airport Paving Project.

    We did well!!!

Yeah, history of fighting wasteful spending my ass. A 1,000,000 dollar paving project for a town of 9,000. Of course, she would later come to support the biggest example of government waste in Alaskan history, the one she says she fought against... the Bridge to Nowhere.

Did she change her position on the earmark, or continue to support it?

She changed her position on supporting the bridge to nowhere only AFTER it became politically equivalent to wasteful spending. She claims to be against earmarks, but governed the state that got the most earmarks per capita during the last 4 years. She actually only changed her position on the bridge to nowhere after it became apparent she wasn't going to be able to get enough money to build it, and her state kept the money anyways because it had already been earmarked. Her stance of being a reformer, against wasteful spending, is something COMPLETLEY new. She's been part of the problem for years now.

As far as the above earmark, NO she didn't change her position. In fact, she HIRED the lobyist to go get that earmark, and she fought for so many earmarks for her tiny-ass 9000 person town.

So, you are saying that she is a failure?  (I know better; just illustrating the type of spin that the non-biased non-liberal media has been using to try and discredit her.)

doesn't matter.

The issue isn't whetehr she spend money but whether her claim to be against the bridge was accurate.

I don't know anything about the rest of her earmark stuff though.

Nevertheless, she should be honest like ron paul and explain her intentions.  I'd understand then.  I don't want to be lied to though- we'll see what she does.

I'm going to reiterate what I posted earlier

What earmark has Palin voted for in Congress?

She is now the governor, they got federal funds NOT tied to the bridge, is the bridge being built?

fine.

what matters to me is Palin was NOT the governor when the bridge was proposed and she WAS the governor when she vetoed the bridge.

Again, zappa, what is the point?  What earmark has she voted against in congress?

The whole point is her purported stance against the bridge that appears duplicitous.

People shouldn't make it an issue if they don't what criticism.

How is it duplicitous when she didn't fucking build it?  WTF are you even on about?  She can't vote for earmarks, never could, and she didn't want the funds tied to building the stupid fucking bridge because it was stupid and when given the choice she didn't build the stupid fucking bridge.  Can I make it any stupid fucking simpler?  There is nothing duplicitous going on.

A Democrat asks Dear Abby a question

Dear Abby,
I am a crack dealer and have a cousin that is a Republican. My father and mother are in jail for growing marijuana for medical purposes only, of course. They are totally dependent on my two sisters who are prostitutes, because my only brother is in jail for rape and murder. I am in love with a street walker who lives in our neighborhood who knows nothing about my background but says she loves me. We intend to get married as soon as she settles her bigamy case, which is now in court. My question is this, in view of the fact that I intend to make this girl my wife and bring her into my family, should I or should I not tell her about my cousin who is a Republican?

On the Effectiveness of Aluminium Foil Helmets: An Empirical Study
Ali Rahimi, Ben Recht, Jason Taylor, Noah Vawter
17 Feb 2005

Abstract
Among a fringe community of paranoids, aluminum helmets serve as the protective measure of choice against invasive radio signals. We investigate the efficacy of three aluminum helmet designs on a sample group of four individuals. Using a $250,000 network analyser, we find that although on average all helmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions (either emanating from an outside source, or emanating from the cranium of the subject), certain frequencies are in fact greatly amplified. These amplified frequencies coincide with radio bands reserved for government use according to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). Statistical evidence suggests the use of helmets may in fact enhance the government's invasive abilities. We speculate that the government may in fact have started the helmet craze for this reason.

Uh, Zappa, she hired LOBYISTS to GET that bridge built. She hired lobyists to get 22 million dollars for her little-ass 9000 person town. She even TOLD the people of Ketchikan that they were not "nowhere" to her and that she supported that bridge being built. Where's the bridge? It didn't get built. Instead, the money stayed in Alaska and got used for other things. She didn't say "no" to the bridge to nowhere, she FOUGHT for it.

If she FOUGHT for it how come she didn't BUILD it?  Because she sure had the opportunity to do it.

Perhaps she's not very good at her job.

Lol. Do you REALLY want to know why she didn't build it? Alright:

Quote:

"Ketchikan desires a better way to reach the airport, but the $398 million bridge is not the answer," said Governor Palin. "Despite the work of our congressional delegation, we are about $329 million short of full funding for the bridge project, and it's clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island," Governor Palin added. "Much of the public's attitude toward Alaska bridges is based on inaccurate portrayals of the projects here. But we need to focus on what we can do, rather than fight over what has happened."

She wanted it, but couldn't get quite enough money. She got about 50 million, and didn't even spend it on the bridge. She didn't "send it back" either. It was just used in other areas in Alaska. She said that the publics attitude was inaccurate, she was FOR the bridge... but now, apparently, she's parading how she was AGAINST the bridge. This simply isn't true. She FOUGHT for that bridge, and although she was not successful, she WAS successful in getting 22 million in earmarks for her tiny town. She was PART of the problem, she never fought against it like she is claiming.

Here was her ORIGINAL position:

Republicans have been heavily touting Sarah Palin's reformist credentials, with her supposed opposition to Alaska's "Bridge to Nowhere" as Exhibit A. But how hard did she really fight the project? Not very, it seems. Here's what she told the Anchorage Daily News on October 22, 2006, during the race for the governor's seat (via Nexis):

5. Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik Arm and Gravina Island bridges?

Quote:

Yes. I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now--while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist.

She only said no after congress STRIPPED it from her. Sorry, you can't just rewrite history like that.
