A few grafting questions

1. when you have lets say a san pedro (or any simular trich) grafted to a pereskiopsis, after the san pedro is about 6 or 7 inches tall can you cut it about an inch above the graft to root it by itself and then in turn the inch you left on the pereskiopsis would that grow pups as long as you left a few areoles?
2. and can you just take say a slice of a cacti as long as a few areoles where present and graft that to pereskiopsis?
3. and lastly how do you go about turning 1 pereskiopsis into many for future grafting?
I have never worked with pereskiopsis and that is the reason behind all these questions. All I have done are simple columer to columer grafting.
thank you for your time

i can answer the third question.
you cut the top of the pereskiopsis, so you have a long section, then you put it in soil to root(some seem to use water).
the cool thing about this is that you can let the pereskiopsis grow a bit, then top it, using the old plant to graft and use the stem you just cut to root and get a new plant

Yes as long as there are areoles in the scion there will be pups coming if you cut it.
Its a technique I use, but with lophos instead of grafted trichs.

If you do it around the top of the trich, yes, not in the middle/low parts.
You´d be grafting it to itself. But thats pointless.

Theres a way to graft 1 aerole to a Pereskiopsis.
Really big cuttings will be better off rooted on their own though. I did however have 8 Pereskiopsis feeding into a small Terscheckii that also was feeding off it's own roots..... http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7540606
I am gonna be updating some new pics of some newer grafts into that page tomorrow. The newer ones I recently did have started to grow. They were the ideal size for grafting to Pereskiopsis unless the flat graft method is used and then they should only be 2 weeks old seedlings.

1. yes 2. yes, you need 2 things for it to work. an areole (spine area) and the vascular tissue of that areole needs to connect to the vasc. tissue of the stock. 3. you can dice them up and plant them, they will root. i often cut mine in 1" sections and plant them as is, keep moisture in there.

shouldn't. i use a mainly coco soil with some sand and "whatever" thrown in....usually old dirt from dead plants or repots that is left over....anyway, a moisture holding soil that is a little loose.
cut them in 1-2" lengths, or whatever floats your boat. stick em in and keep them moist, they should offset soon and root just as soon.
high heat, good light and high humidity up your chances a LOT*****
