Yeah I watched the tape a couple of times, and you're right she should have just kept her mouth shut. It was all in that two seconds when he says "move to the sidewalk" she turns around so he goes "arrest her" and it was over. They didn't however have to step on their backs and take their press badges, but I guess that comes with crossing a police line. The protesters really fucked up alot of things for people.

I have no love loss for violent protesters, but having been at the convention protesting since Sunday (the day before it started)I can tell you that the police there don't care who they are gassing.  I have seen innocent people get nailed with gas as well as illegal searches, and general harassment.

Our protest group had some of its permits pulled less than a month before the convention for no reason.  Mind you these were permits that were issued in April.

On monday their were some 50 thousand people who marched on the xcel center, and only 300 who were breaking things.  Less than one percent.

I had to smile at the quote "this is what a police state would look like" as I made that comment several times in the last week, riots aside.

as is evidenced here, watch the video, many came prepared to cause problems just as they did at the DNC, they were all there to disrupt the convention, some were just bent on using violence and vandalism to do so

was it the kids choice to enlist in the armed forces knowing
full well that there's a possibility of combat, did that
soldier expressly object to combat duty on moral grounds as a
contentious objector... it is their right to protest but when
the intent is simply disruption of the events is it not
trampling the rights of those attending the event, what about
those that simply live and work in the area, did the
protesters give a shit about them and the inconvenience they
were subjecting them to

haha yes a protest against the government, because they stopped listening to the people, do it in the 'speech free zone' you know its the place where you wont bother anyone, where no one will hear you. So dont scream to hard. Stay far away from the thing you want to protest against, and comply nicely to the police since they know whats best for the country.

In my eyes the time for 'peace protests' is over, and i think that when you dont see our country is slowly getting fucked over your blindsided/brainwashed by fox type media! You dont have to agree with my but its just my vision based on society around me!

And of course the protestors arent 'innocents', nobody is innocent. They just trying to spark something, and sometimes in the stupidest of ways, i mean what does a fucking hippie walking up to riot cops with a flower in her hand expect, of course she gets peppersprayed. These protestors need leadership, and also learn that they arent fighting america, just the bitchass american government. They need to learn that they have to work together with non protestors and not annoy the fuck out of them by holding up traffic and smashing carwindows

I don't think most of them (that are destroying property) are there for the "fun" of a riot and don't care much about anything else.

Nah, Bill, like George Washington, is busy freeing a remote colony from an oppressive imperialistic government, or something.

Innocent people who weren't protesting were arrested.

were they passing out programs, you cant tell one civilian from another without  a program

No but they had official RNC press passes around their necks allowing them to be in the Exxel center. Some were even from Republican newspapers. Then they grabbed them, put them on the ground while stepping on their backs while secret service stole their press passes and put them in confinement for an undetermined amount of time. Not to mention none of the 'police' are held accountable. You should watch the video it's legitimate.

In my protesting experience I've seen a whole lot of uncalled for behavior by the police, and this sounds typical. Folks who are particularly at risk for needless arrest include anybody with a camera, street medics, and anybody perceived as having a leadership role. Wearing any form of mask may also increase one's chance of being arrested. Also, any protester wearing any form of body armor (regardless of whether weapons are present) can expect a swift arrest if noticed by the police. The cruelest arrests I've seen were of normal folks with cameras among the protesters (luv you NYPD!) during a legal march that was stopped by an army of riot police without explanation.

Here are questionable police (and court) tactics I've witnessed:
*Roving snatch squads for arrest of individuals mentioned above. They tend to catch one by surprise from behind, sometimes eliciting a visceral self-defense reaction that easily becomes an "assaulting an officer" charge.
*Unlawful containment of protesters and media away from larger, mainstream protest events (these typically dissolve if a lawyer manages to contact a local court, albeit such a lawyer is often among those contained)
*Blocking of lawful marches without any communication to protesters
*Driving police cars (slowly) through the back of a march on a narrow street and spraying anyone who remains close to the car
*Attacking protesters who are trying to help an officer who accidentally tripped on the sidewalk (fellow officers weren't helping)
*Charging/rushing and beating peaceful protesters (with children) at the front of a march without provocation.
*Spraying individuals in the eyes once already subdued.
*Mass arrests on or before day of major protests followed by release without charges once protests have ended.
*Charging John and Jane Doe protesters with criminal charges related to unrelated "Doe" cases from years past to force the relinquishing of IDs and to slow court proceedings while protests continue.
*Closing detention centers early to prevent communication  between prisoners and their friends
*Planting of plain-clothes police officers among counter-protesters to encourage arguments and fights with protesters
