if the spore print is WHITE it's not a pan, and it COULD be extremely poisonous. be careful

Could be Pysatherllas(sp?)... Or maybe Inocybe(completely random guess)? Stay away from them if the print is white.

Your mushrooms are Marasmius oreades, one of the most common lawn inhabiting mushrooms, and they are edible. Be careful that any you eat are not taken from lawns which have had something poisonous put on them - they concentrate the external poisons, a common feat of mushrooms. Also, check that the stems of each are tough as you described. Another common but very poisonous lawn mushroom, Clitocybe dealbata, is known to sometimes grow alongside Marasmius. It can be easily distinguished by having a relatively very fragile stem.

The stems are tough as hell. It take a good bit of strength to rip the stem.

I'm not convinced that it's M oreades. But maybe the colors are a bit distorted. The whole backyard of my house is covered by them in the season. It should have a very strong but pleasant smell. Did it look like this?
