Has anyone heard of this amazing icelandic band? If not you should have... They're just starting on a world tour soon (American tour dates just released) after their new album's out. Just asking cos it's some of my favourite music while tripping.

Yah, I got one of their CD's. I just liked the alien-like-creature on the cover so I got it. Its pretty good, but I dont think they sing lyrics, they make up words or something wierd like that. Its very quiet calm music - got a happy sound to it, nothing frightening - it'd be great for tripping, but I havnt tried yet.
--EDIT-- Or do they sing in a forign language?

You're right, they do sing made up words. The singer calls it "Hopelandic", a mixture of English and Icelandic. Oh, and that alien creature is in fact a feutus. Not sure what species though.
New album sounds a bit weird though - all tracks untitled, and the album is called: ( ), just a pair of brackets. Hope the music's good!

me and thor always argue about that band
they have one song where he just sounds like he's saying "it's youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu"

i was of the understanding that "hopelandic" was icelandic, but twisted around. a made up language.
i like most of their songs... but they need some more energy! kinda on the slow side. which is good for tripping, stoned, etc. music... but not good on a day to day basis. (for me at least.)

Yay, great post
Well I'm very biased being Icelandic, but yes Sigur Ros is a really amazing group.. Jack is a hard rock guy, he can't appreciate it me thinks
But there is nothing in my mind as good as sigur ros right now; see them live, you'll love the experience!
I can't wait to see them again, and maybe go out partying

So what concerts are you all going to?
I'm thinking Vancouver, from what I've heard of their last one this was their best show in North America.
My favorite has to be Star?lfur

Also my ex-roomate is friends with one of the guys in the band, so I'm planning on chilling with them after the show
That should be fun.

You lucky bastard! I'm seeing them in Edinburgh on October 3rd. Never been to see them before, but I've got a few bootlegs and they sound great live. They're playing in a renevated old church (Queen's Hall) which is a cool setting.
Have you heard any of the new album? Apparently the tracks are all on Kaza, but they're just the first minute of the songs looped over and over till they reach the length they're meant to be. I guess it's better to wait for the release anyway.
What other stuff are you into? Mogwai are damn fine, but very different, and they come from Glasgow like me so I see them play quite a bit.
