needles being fazed out....

I work in a health care setting. The new buzz about the bizz is that they are going to be getting away from needles and just use plastic tubing. I don't know how they are going to do injections nor do they but I guess the thing is that too many people are getting infected in hospitals and such by needle sticks. I haven't heard any timelines on this but it's deffinatly on it's way. I can't believe that it means that there will be no more needles but it will probably at least mean they will be a bit harder to come by for some folks who make thier own syringes.

Just some info that may be usefull, maybe not.

medical syringes are alot thinner and smaller than the kind we use.... don't worry about it.

If I'm understanding you correctly, not even the big players in the business know what they are going to use as an alternative. If this is the case, it's years down the road.

Hey who here likes those sharp tipped needles?
it seems to be the only kind u can get from vendors... I like the blunt tipped ones, they are easier to innoc jars with... i tend to get shit stuck in the needle with the sharp tipped ones...

The size needles we use are mostly used for Animals.
I really don't see them being fazed out.

We primarily use 18g(the most common in this hobby) for IV sticks in the military. Even if they phase them out, it merely means that the 10's of millions in stock now will be sold cheaply, allowing any of you to stock up with years worth for very little $

IMHO...Needles will never be fazed out, in the youngest members here - lifetime, ++ some.

Hey agar where do you buy cases of needles like that?

They are cheap enough I would just use a new one each time. It's just that I don't like going into a pharmacy and asking for them. An 18 year old "kid" wearing a hoody and skate shoes usually doesn't have to many legitimate reasons for buying syringes and needles.
