It was an influential book in some circles in the 70's.

A lot of the stuff in it is starting to become more widely accepted in modern energy economics, but back then, they were new ideas.

Treating fossil fuels as capital rather than income was one of the big ones.

Beyond Oil: The View from Hubbert's Peak
While the title might make you think this is a book about peak oil it's mostly about what alternative energy sources have to offer us. It's a really quick and interesting read thats not full of scare-tactics. It might be a little dated in regards to his calculations of when peak oil is going to hit but there can be no denying that one day, demand will out pace supply and prices will adjust for the higher, thats just not the main theme.
