First Grow Questions

Hey everyone. Im about to start my kinda first grow. I tried doing cakes about a year ago and they worked out okay till my mom found them. now i have my own place and im gettin ready to start my first bulk grow. Im using WBS as spawn and i have 4 18 gallon tubs that im gonna fill each with different stuff so i can see what i like most. so i have 2 questions about all this
1) My main question is about the WBS. In all the teks ive read you have to simmer the WBS to get maximum water content. I was just wondering if soaking it for a little longer would do the same thing and cut out the simmering.
2) my other less important question is about how much dry weight can one expect to get out of an 18 gallon monotub. im going to be spawning the WBS to straight mushroom compost in 1 tub, Compost + Coir in another tub, compost + poo + coir in another tub, and Poo + coir in the last tub

1) No. Soaking the seed just won't get enough moisture in there. All grain has to be simmered to get it to absorb enough moisture.

2) ???

If you do everything right and you get good results... maybe an ounce or two dry per tub on the first flush. There are so many variables it's hard to give a straight answer on this one.

1.) No. After 4-6 hours they have absorbed all of the water they will. Soaking them longer will cause the endospores to hatch, and then germinate which you don't want...You just want them to hatch so that when you pressure cook them they will be killed off.

2.) No sure answer. 1/2 ounce - 1 ounce is a reasonable guess I'd say since its your first grow and all.
