Hypothetical shipping situation

An acquaintance of mine, SWIM, told me about a hypothetical situation which involved forwarding syringes to a certain state in which psilo spores are illegal to possess. It goes something like this:
Syringes are ordered from a well-known supplier located inside the U.S. SWIM tells me that the syringes (lets say 2 syringes total) will be shipped in a small brown package.
Another friend, located in a state where psilo. spore possession is LEGAL, receives the package from the vendor. He changes the return address so that it is not his own (but still valid), and then ships the syringes to SWIM.
The package is addressed to the house of another friend of SWIM's, in the destination state. The name written on the package is a fake name, but the address is real.
Once the package has arrived at the house, SWIM leaves the package unopened and waiting for a week, before he goes and retrieves the package.
Does this hypothetical situation seem as though it is pretty sound? Does the postal service really ensure that the name on the package is one of the inhabitants? as in, will the package be sent back to the return address if the name on the destination address is fake?

Yes, in my experience they do check if the name is one of the inhabitants, though surely this varies.
If your talking about cali spores aren't even illega their, they just have a drug paraphanalia-type law that mentions them.
If it were me I'd just send them first class to the guy using his real name after receiving in alternate state from vendor.

sounds like you've read the constitution Good job.
Yes all mail is protected from unreasonable searches, however; what is reasonable depends upon the class of mail.
It is idiotic and a clear violation of the 4th amendment, but these are the facts.
First class, priority, and express are sealed against inspection meaning they cannot be opened unless its a ticking bomb or something OR their is a warrant issued.
Parcel post and other mails don't have such protection, and restricted classes like media mail have just about no protection whatsoever.
Your right its dumb, but that's the law, you can search for my posts on the subject in this forum if you want the USC/ case law.'
People will tell you diff, but spores are not illegal in cali, they are just illegal to import for use in making controlled substances. While this may mean the cops are more likely to charge you, cuz they are specifically mentioned in the law, it also means if you shut your fucking mouth they can't do shit unless they find other evidence.
Go first class or priority, avoid express, use clear writing with real addresses and hopefully real people as address and addressee and don't tape seems or apply a wraper over the box/envelope and you should be good.

Almost always no, but I believe it is driver's discretion, maybe. I always get packages dropped off here when I'm not home w/ no problem, though I live in a house so that may be different.
Usually their will be no signerature unless it is sent insured, certified, registered, or sig. confirmation without waiver... oh and express without waiver.
Ship regular first class with delivery confirmation or priority with delivery confirmation and their will be no sig. Or send without Del. Conf.
