the Meanings
    #886105 - 09/16/02 05:32 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

can you remember when you were a kid and you saw and heard the word "peace" .. what did you think? a bunch of people frolicking around in a field?

what about "happiness" ? did you just picture a stick-man with a smiley face driving to his happy job on a sunny day?

do some people stay in these sort of states of mind...
just sticking with pictures they were handed?

i just realized how certain words have such a stronger meaning to me now..
like what the fuck was a 'vision quest' when you heard about it in american history class? heheh

I've taken a "vision quest" into history but it wasn't in school...

happiness: happy, like when you play and have fun and don't have to worry
vision quest: this one i knew because i was obsessed with native american culture when i was a kid.

The meanings of peace and happiness have changed from my childhood, although not a drastic change......just a new influx of info on the subjects.....

as far as a vision quest goes I used to think it was exactly like flashbacks are in movies........I had no idea really.....

When I was a kid:

I learned happiness is the feeling you have when you are having so much fun that the concept of time completely leaves your mind. There is no later; there is no end to the fun. This state was easy to achieve as a child, but it is no longer so inevitable. To me spending as much time as possible in that state is the point of life.

I learned peace is what happened when my dad turned off the cartoons so he could get some work done. I was never big on peace.

Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.
