Has anyone cultivated either Cloud ear fungus (Auricularia polytricha, syn. Hirneola polytricha), or Auricularia auricula-judae (syn. Auricularia auricula, Hirneola auricula-judae) or read any documentation on cultivating it? Im thinking about impregnating a log with some type of spawn...

Food, they have amazing texture... I think they both have a bit of medicinal properties as well. I guess i would have to try to get some mycelium to grow on Agar from a piece of cloud/jew ear.... Then transfer to some type of wood or grain jars

I don't know of anyone cultivating those two species, but if you get a good producing clone I don't see why not. Mrs Rabbit goes nuts every year when the jews ear starts fruiting. Personally, I don't like the texture of either one. RR

I really like them too, they're great in stews and curries they pick up flavors from the other foods. I really like their texture, I can only find them dried around here and only at asian food markets. I think it would be neat to have a log 'o them! I say keep us updated if you are successful.

interesting...ramen doesn't have much flavor either lol. the texture looks like an old mans shaved nutsac with scarring. not too appealing, well to me. i'd try it though.

haha i know i set myself up big time. none to this date so my comparison isn't really valid. but it does sorta look like a undried scarred pigs ear. i guess thats more appropriate. i do appreciate food and texture so I wouldn't knock it til i tried it, but just commenting on the appearance. i wonder what kinda wine would go good with that

do they make plain ramen? i guess it would be plain if you didnt use the seasoning packet. but yea i love adding shit to ramen...diced bacon, chicken, or pork. i bet some onions would go good as well. damn im hungry.
