I thought if you've gotten mono once, you could never get it again?

Sort of a play on words there. Technically you can never get it again because once you get it it never leaves :P.
And mine doesnt really come back that badly but i'd say i'm in pretty good health. I had a flare up that was pretty bad last summer, throat was all full of the nasty sores and shit..I thought i'd gotten herpes or something as id just started dating this new girl. Long story short I started shitting bricks but my doctor cleared it up for me as just being a coincidental flare up. And I had a really minor one that lasted a few days near exam time, I blame stress -.-.
But yea man...I know how it is =(

Well a virus isn't alive so it can't be killed in the first place = /. But some medications can make your body more responsive or in some cases break down viruses with enzymes (its like if you get a splinter in your hand and leave it...eventually enzymes will break down the splinter into basic molecules.
You still have it in you but its not active..its like i've had mono, i don't see symptoms at all anymore but the virus still exists/has embedded itself in my genetic code
damnit! so you mean to tell me i still have mono in me too??

once u get mono, it never leaves
and when it comes back it usually brings white-rash strep with it...
yay !!!
not many people have it return though. ive only had it come back once.
technically its when your immune system falls enough, just like herpes. if u have both herpes and mono and ur immune system goes to shit u may as well put ur head between ur legs and kiss ur ass goodbye

There's a few viruses like mono, rabies and herpes that can hide in your spinal cord. Your immune system can't enter your spinal cord so those viruses are safe there. So lame!

Indeed! and yea i'm healthy and havn't seen it in forever. Another thing is, although the virus may remain dormant within you your immune system now recognizes it or will recognize it more quickly.. (assuming it doesn't go ape shit and mutate drastically).
I generally get minor flare ups during/near exam time as i'm getting about 4 hours sleep for 3 weeks and drinking 3+ coffees a day .
