Please help decide on the right DSLR camera.

Alright I need to step my camera game up for various things in my life.
Taking adult, nude photographs is the main concern,
But will also be used to take pictures of my reef tank.
So I want to get a good, top of the line, professional camera.
Low and behold, GQ's monlthy magazine had an article on 3 of them, they are the following:
Sony A350 - $800, 14.2 megapixels, but only 2 frames per second in burst mode Canon EOS Rebel XSi - $900, 12.2 megapixels and a great 3.5 frames per second for burst mode Panasonic Lumix SMC-L10 - $1300. 10.1 megapixels and 3 frames per second for burst mode with a Leica lens
My intial instinct is to go with the Sony for many reasons: Top of the line name I know, love & trust (but dont know much about them and their digital camera line) Seems to be the cheapest on the list Has the highest number in megapixels
The only reason I am considering other cameras and not just jumping on the Sony is because its burst mode is only 2 per second, where as the others are 3 & 3.5.
Now is this really a considerable difference over the sony? Where the cannon is almost double in burst mode?
The sony seems to win hands down in every single other area, price and megapixels being the top 2.
I know nothing about cameras, so I am open to all ideas and comments.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, but someone in another forum has suggested the following:
an XSi for 900? For that price you can get a 40D...better camera 6.5fps, MUCH better build on the body, better focus system, MUCH better viewfinder as well if your going on camera advice from GQ...you should just throw all that out the window and start over researching again.

I've asked him more questions on the subject, just waiting on answers back now.

you should probably look into and cost all the accessories you are going to need as well if you want to take professional shots. (tripod, lenses, memory cards)

Please don't get baffled with high mpx count. You better want big sized, low noise sensors, wide ISO range and a variety of lenses available to choose from.
In that case I think Canon DSLRs win. If you choose one of them, don't get the kit lens and buy a better one. I love Sigma 18-200mm is great (no autofocus though).

I would also recommend the canon camera. For one, i really don't like any sony products other than their game systems. Two, i feel it is a better camera as well, canon makes some of the best lenses available. As funnybunny said, megapixels, once above 8 or so, do not make any difference, unless you are going to be blowing the pictures up past 4 feet tall, or doing some major cropping. The Nikon 40D is also a really nice camera. I have the Digital Rebel XTi, which is 10 megapixels, and i really like it, wish i had a better lens for macro shooting, as the in box one sucks at that, but in time.

Go with a Canon for sure! The Rebel XSi is a fantastic camera. The 40D is also a great option if you want to go that route. More of a professional camera there. Some slightly better features then the Rebel and a better build (metal framework instead of plastic). And IMO Canon lenses can't be beat.
I'm going to upgrade my camera to a Canon system sometime soon. All my old 35mm gear was Canon but I've never got any Canon digital gear. Just need to get the cash together and I'll be buying one though.
