keeping warm in colder months

It's getting to be that time of year when it getting cooler. All summer I have had my terrariums in a small room with my hot water heater so it always stays very warm. Now that the temps are falling I'm looking for a way to keep my terrariums at the right temps. I have thought about buying an electric room heater with a thermostat but it may be expensive. I have also thought about heating pads but don't know if setting my rubbermaid containers on them would help much. How have other people here kept there terrariums warm in the colder months? Any input would be appreciated.

Something like this. but off course you?d have to go down with the temperature, if you use it as terrarium:

This has been effective in the past. A rubbermaid container, was used as the teranium, with a heavy blanket thrown over the top on on the sides. Outdoor chistmas lights were strung up inside the rubbermaid and left on until the maxium temperature was reached, then put on a timer for 15 min every hour. This kept the temperature within 4F of the maxium temperature.
I hope that was clear enough. -zero

SWIM built an incubator /w a thermostat for @20$ at the local *MART store. 16$ for a midsize fishtank heater /w integrated thermostat. 1$ for a styrefoam cooler. 1$ for a thermometer to double check the air temp in the cooler. 1$ for a tall widemouth glass tumbler ( for mixing drinks ). Fishtank heater has suction cups and sticks to the side of the tumbler, fill tumbler with water, set the temp on the fishtank heater ( SWIM's is adjustable from 72 - 89 degrees) Sits in the bottem of the cooler, ther is a notch in the lip of the cooler just big enough for the cord. The styrefoam cooler also has a latching lid to keep it tight. Monitor the thermometer and adjust the heater as necessary. Bee sure to keep water in the tumbler or container of your choice, some cheaper models will burn up if the water gets too low and can be a fire hazard.
