Bluk Tek gone astray....
    #884058 - 09/15/02 09:03 PM (15 years, 5 months ago)

Hard to find everything needed for Roadkills Horse Poo tek. It really isnt, but if your strapped for cash, and live in a place where these things are not around; you must improvise.

First of all, there is no cow/horse dung around. So I have :
All natural BOVUNG Dehydrated Manure & Organic Humus

Contains not less than %51 manure (what kind, I dont know) and not greater than %49 organic humus.
::Organic Humus:: Derived from peat, compost, forest product, manure, and/or other organic materials.
Total Nitrogen(N).........................%1.0 %0.40 other water soluble nitrogen
%0.60 water insoluble nitrogen
Available Phosphate(P2O5)...............%1.0
Soluble Potash(K2O).......................%1.0

Is this a suitable stand-in for cow/horse manure?
If so, does anything need to be added?

I have the pot, the wheight, the pillowcase, but no candy thermo. I do have blisters on my feet from days of walking trying to find one.
I ended up with 2 or 3 Meat thermo?s, kind of this style :

Is this usable inplace of the Candy thermo?
I am guessing I could stick the sharp end in all the way to the bottom of the pillowcase and get an accurate reading.

Other than that, I have everything else covered.

I'm not sure about the All natural BOVUNG Dehydrated Manure & Organic Humus.

Maybe someone else has tryed that brand.

If you can find some Scotts 3in1 you would be set.

The thermometer you have pictured will work fine.
I have one of those too.
I prefer my Candy thermometer that clips onto my big ass pot better though.
I picked it up in a Safeway grocery store.

good luck!

Everything doesn`t need to be perfect.
Obviously you can use a meat thermometer.
I use the same one on the left that you stab into the meat.
The one with the round top.
And it works perfectly.
Why wouldn`t it???

Derrayld and out of control

No horse poo or cow poo around? That makes things harder. With store bought compost, its hard to tell if it will work, Black Cow is shitty (literaly, and figuratively), but Scott's 3 n 1 seems to work for everyone who tries it (but the last that I heard, Scott's was not manufacturing it any longer) So if you can't get poo, which IMO is worth an hour drive to the country, then try the stuff that you got, but only try a small spawn for the first run so you don't lose it all, maybe one cake at most, with a smaller tray of course. As for your thermometer, dude they're at Walmart for like $3. But like the guys above said, if you can't find one, use the one you got. Good luck
