    #883442 - 09/14/02 07:04 AM (14 years, 2 months ago)

My friend has white growth on his pins, he figures this is because the humidity is to high. Or atleast believes thats what he has read. Anyways how would he lower humidity? Fanning more often?...He fans two times a day...sometimes 3..any other suggestions are welcome..hes a bit worried

Fanning more, misting less, if humidity is your problem

I'm not really sure what is the problem, but if the problem is high humidity (which is my best guess), then he's misting more than enough. And I'm guessing these are cakes, so the humidity should be 95-100% for pinning, So yes there should be condesation on the wall

the problem is there is mycelium growth on the pins, which means (as far as i know) the humidity is to high. So he'll be ok if he fans more? Im just saying maybe hes misting TO much..so how would he know.

He could tell by getting in the car, driving to radio shack, and buying a humidity gauge. Or he can just guess. But this actually isn't the worst thing that could happen in cultivation. Just be glad its not green.

I?d let it as is. A too high humidity is better than too low one.

white growth on the base of the stem is caused by humidity, you could maybe lower it just a tad, but so far i havnt seen any detrimental effects of it. Only thing i could even think of is it being more likely to rot, but thats not a problem since it would only be there for a few days.

I say, don't worry about it.
